Book Description

May 1, 2003
All that money you spend on advertising: does it work? Of course it does. But what form of advertising is the most effective of all? Television? Radio? Newspapers? Billboards?

To answer the question about your advertising, consider this: Which of the advertisements you use, when seen by one person, is most likely to result in business? The answer may surprise you, because it's one of your least expensive and smallest ads, dozens of which will fit easily into your pocket or purse: your business card.

When you hand someone your business card, you're setting in motion a chain of contacts that can become a new branch of your network. That's why you want your card to be attention-getting, pleasing, informative, and memorable - so people will look at it, comment on it, pass it around, and keep it handy. And the next time someone needs your products or services, they'll remember you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most important business tool comes too life, finally!, July 2, 2003
This review is from: It's in the Cards! (Hardcover)
The number one problem for a small business owner is knowing how to effectively market themselves within a limited budget. For all professionals in business that are looking to grow their business, marketing and positioning yourself in your geographic area is of the utmost importance. This book addresses the most important and effective marketing tool available to every business person: the business card. Your business card is like a website, no matter what size your company you can make as strong a first impression and memorable impression as any competitor.
This book not only talks about the importance of a business card and how to design it effectively but it contains full color business cards on page after page.
I spent a lot of time on the design of my business card and I thought I covered all the bases. After reading this book and using it as a reference guide I see how I can make my business cared, the most important marketing tool I have, more effective. Anytime I can make any part of my marketing or sales process more effective I take advantage of that.
There are not many business books that come out today that can really have a direct effect on your business, this one can. This is the best book I have ever seen on business cards because of its written content and beautiful visual examples of unique cards from around the world.
If you want an effective way to increase the marketing and sales of your business pick up this book and get to work on making the marketing collateral you put in people's hands a business builder.

Alice Ostrower (Simsbury, CT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: It's in the Cards! (Hardcover)
At face value, this book is colorful and easy to flip through. The lessons should be taken seriously. They give excellent examples of how to improve the effectiveness of business cards.

I also enjoyed the introduction - history of business cards.

An easy read with lots of good information.

3.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of Examples but Light on Solid Written Content, March 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: It's in the Cards! (Hardcover)
The books is a copmrehensive discussion of business card design and etiquitte. There are literally hundreds of cards in here, with plenty of ideas and feedback for the reader. The keys include habving a readable and distinctive business card, one that fits your business profile, and making sure you actually use them. On the downside, the book doesn't really give any bad examples or things to avoid, and the bulk of the book is just business card after business card examples - with about 30 pages of real meaty content. Good to peruse and get you thinking, but not a must read or must have.
