Denise James is yet further proof of the wonderful things happening musically in Detroit, Michigan these days. Though more in the veign of Saturday Looks Good To Me or Pas/Cal than the White Stripes, James produces a solid effort here. I challenge the critical reviewers to a better pop record these days. James vocals are astounding and a delite to hear. To me, only track 9 gets tiresom. The Ventures surf-like instrumental is a little tedious. the rest is sheer excellence making up for the sag on track nine, making this a five star album and worhty of your money.

Don't listen to the other reviewers. This is a great cd! "Come home to me", "Love has got me crying again", "Absolutely sad", "Don't let her go this time", and "It's not enough to love", are the standout tracks. Out of the 10 tracks on this cd, only 1 seems to sound like filler. The instrumental "Just like that", seems to go on a bit too long (over six minutes). Denise has a sweet voice, and the music has a blend of pop, alternative-folk, rock, and a splash of 60's girl-garage. I highly recommend this cd. The video for "love has got me trying again" is worth checking out.

Good CD but not enough great songs.
The first three songs are great, I love her voice. Smooth and cool.
Track 9 (the instrumental) is really good (think the ventures) and worth many repeated spins.
Well worth the 4 bucks.
