LIGHT JAZZ AT ITS BEST !!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: It's a Good Thing (Audio CD)
Guitarist and producer Phil Sheeran has put together an incredibly actively listenable album (and modestly called it a good thing). No easy feat considering how overcrowded this genre can be with sound-alike tracks. Excellent rythym section, great flute and sax work, (guiterwork as well, needless to say), carry through a rapidly changing mosaic of melodic streams. Sheeran's love of Brazilian melodies is apparent (check out breaking through) and the production as a whole is thoroughly enjoyable. If you like Syra Gyra, Jeff Lorber and will go for a little more contemporary straight-ahead, check this out. I'd even go so far as to rank it one of the better albums of its type around. Nice guitar play combined with old-fashioned south-american-rhythms.

Just a Flawless Smooth Jazz CD. I've been listening to smooth Jazz Guitarists for over 30 years and Mr Sheeran is way up there with the best. The album stands the test of time and sounds as if it was recorded yesterday. If you like Steve Laury you will absolutly love the music on this cd. I've had it in my car player for over a week. A real Gem. 10 out of 10.
