More About the Author

Melissa L. Webb is a writer, dreamer, thinker, and a seeker. She is an avid fan of anything paranormal. She loves to read and won't be caught dead without some kind of book in her purse. She is also a big fan of horror. She has yet to find any movie or book that will scare her, however, she remains hopeful that one does exists out there.

When she isn't tutoring students, you'll find her weaving words in a magical place, between the ocean and the redwoods, in Northern California, and spending time being bossed around by her dog, Buffy.

This is a novella length book, so not very long, but very entertaining. It is fast paced with interesting characters and the storyline makes for a nice Halloween read.

Maxie Duncan has not been a witch for long and is looking forward to her first Halloween as one. It's her favorite holiday and she wonders why her new supernatural friends do not want to celebrate with her. There is a male witch, her friend and possible boyfriend, a pixie roommate and her boyfriend the trickster, they all reside in an apartment complex full of other supernaturals. Maxie wants to show them that the season has more meaning than they give it credit for. And as a nascent witch trouble of course ensues.

I enjoyed this so much that it has definitely interested me in the series, so I will be going back to number and getting to know the whole story of Maxie and how she became a witch.

i got a couple of chapters into this book before i realized that it was the second in the maxie duncan series (no wonder things weren't making sense!). after reading book one i immediately started on this one. both were cute although the characters could have been better developed. there were quite a few grammar mistakes which makes it hard for me to read. there were also a few times where i got lost or confused because things were not described very well so i had to go back and re-read some parts just so i could be sure i knew what was going on. overall i really appreciate this story - it was fun to read for halloween.

This was dumb. I did not keep reading. So maybe it gets better? I think I read 20%. Might be interesting for kids? Makes me think all the free books are going to be this dumb.

I wish I hadn't taken the time to download this book. The plot was thin and the characters were not developed.

She is great, although she portrays herself as a typical blond, she is not, she realizes that, but has a hard time accepting it, which, of course you would, if you received news of what she is at a later stage of your life, I can understand that, but the things that happen to her are cute, she causes some of them, but if she did not, then there would be no story and if that were to happen, there would be no book. I did read the first book, so reading this one second I understood and got to know the characters. I sure do hope there will be more books about Maxine, I still have to read the one about her and Christmas, but I can't wait. I love these types of books and it makes it entertaining to read a book that doesn't make you think once in a while.

Such a cute short. A very believable storyline, a definite 5star rating. The characters were believable and easy to follow as well as imagine...it would be no problem reading a much longer plot, storyline, or extended version of either the characters or the story itself. I recommend this to anyone who likes reading about witches, magic, paranormal, spells, warlocks, etc., to name a few. New witches are always fun to read about. Nice job keeping me entertained. I'm on my way to reading more about the characters and other stories...

This was a light, fun book. It was a very quick read partly because of its length but also because the author has a real flair for engaging the reader with her characters and a very interesting plot, something which is difficult to do in so few words. I will definitely read the other books in this series.
