5.0 out of 5 stars It's Like You Never Left
what an excellent record. i looked for this title on cd for years & could never find it. this has to be dave's greatest record ever. one rocks'most underated guitarists'. if you've ever seen him live you know what i mean. graham nash's harmony vocals are superb & the "son of harry" slide guitar on "if you've got love" is as good as it gets,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not comparable to Alone Together
Dave Mason's 1970 release, Alone Together, is an absolute classic. This album, originally released in 1973, was a must for my collection as I'm a huge fan of Dave Mason, but unfortunately, it doesn't compare very favorably to his 1970 release. Credit is due to the song Misty Morning Stranger--it is excellent--but the rest is fairly mediocre...

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific album by an under-rated artist, September 12, 1999

Dave Mason somehow got lost in the shuffle of his on-again, off-again relationship with Steve Winwood and Traffic. And then he had a rough relationship with the Blue Thumb label, although Alone Together is an absolute classic.

When he got out from under all that Dave Mason next showed up on the Columbia label, with It's Like You Never Left. What a great surprise this was. Guest vocals from Graham Nash, great guitar work throughout. Stevie Wonder too!

And the songs are great. Maybe and Every Woman are two beautiful love songs. Headkeeper, in another incarnation, as good as the Blue Thumb version. Misty Morning Stranger, one of my all-time favorites. And one day I'd love to hear the full version of Side Tracked, a little gem of an instrumental.

I played cuts from this album all the time on my college radio show nearly 30 years ago, and for me, it's one of the best albums of the 70s. A small treasure, to be sure, but a treasure just the same.

This album was one of favorite during the 70's.

I had forgotten about this Dave Mason release,
I did not know if my recollection of this cd
would be as good as I had thought...
"It's like you never left" is a gem.
This cd has classic songs that show Dave at his best.

Highly recommend!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unearth this classic!, September 17, 2001

When it came out in '73, my friends and I would play air guitar and sing our hearts out to this record. Never got it on CD and hadn't heard it for years until recently and it has lost none of it's appeal. Great collection of songs with a real spirituality behind them--the power of love mostly--written and performed with passion, grit, and no irony! Stevie Wonder guests with a fabulous harmonica on "The Lonely One." We need more records like this now. Thank you, Dave Mason.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Dave Mason Story, July 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: It's Like You Never Left (Audio CD)
Twenty one years ago, after I had been married a year, I fell in love with another man. We never breached the line of monogomy, so when he asked me to leave my husband and move away with him, I didn't think he was serious. He told me he had a song to play for me. He never played it. He moved, I stayed. Three grown children for me and two grown children for him and with the very sparce contact we've had with each other throughout the years, he finally told me the title of the song. It was "Maybe" by Dave Mason. I bought the CD without ever hearing any of the songs. When I listened to it for the first time, I felt as if someone had reached in my chest, grabbed my heart and squeezed it. Although we live 1,000 miles away from each other, our lives seem to have come full circle. I am forever/still in love with this man. Now, maybe anything HE wants me to I'll be....

p.s. The other songs are just gravy... truely sung from the heart... wonderful!
