Book Description

Lizzie Bennington is on the brink of winning her first title in a mixed doubles match at the Boca Raton tournament when Jack Archer, Lizzie’s competitor across the net, stops play complaining of leg cramps. As she watches the trainer’s
hands move up Jack’s muscular loin, Lizzie tries to keep her composure, but she cannot hide her admiration. When Jack catches an unwitting look of
prurient pleasure in Lizzie’s eye, the real game between the plucky, spirited beauty and the reckless, thrill-seeking playboy begins.
But Jack’s overtures only anger Lizzie. She can’t forget the unsportsmanlike stunt that lost her the Boca match. She knows he is a notorious playboy.
What’s more, Christina Richter is his partner off the court as well as on it. Still, Lizzie cannot deny her attraction. When she finally gives in, the relationship is threatened not only by Christina but by the number one men’s player, Rodolfo Salazar, a volatile sexy Spaniard, who would like nothing better than to cross
the net to get to Lizzie before Jack does.
Even so, no one stands in the way of Lizzie and Jack’s union more than Lizzie and Jack themselves. Only ti me will tell if two players on opposite sides of the net can find love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced romance between tennis players - enjoyed it! November 14, 2012
By Kim
This is certainly a love story - and I'm usually not a fan of them - but thankfully author A.G. Starling take a bit of a different route in this sultry, sexy, yet still romantic tale of tennis players.

When tennis partners Lizzie and Dave play against Jack and his partner Christina, Lizzie is playing the doubles game of her career and the chance at becoming a mixed-doubles champion. Jack begins complaining about leg cramps, so the game is called off - as well as Lizzies chance to finally become a champion.

Lizzie is a very strong woman and when she sees something she wants, she goes after it; and she wants Jack. But can she really be attracted to man that ruined her chances of becoming a champion? After all, Jack is your typical ladies man and is notorious for his playboy tendencies. In addition, could she actually bring herself to have a relationship with someone that has such poor sportsmanship?

When Lizzie finally gives in to how attracted she is to Jack, it doesn't make his current partner (on and off the court) Christina very happy. In addition, she has the number one mens tennis player, Rodolfo Salazar, hot on her trail because he doesn't want Jack to have, what he feels he deserves.

Even though I couldn't care anything about tennis, that fact didn't take away my enjoyment of this book. The characters were great and the story was fast paced and kept my attention. I would definitely recommend this - a great Sunday afternoon read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read! December 3, 2012
By Kathy
Lizzie plays tennis and is very independent. She's very good at tennis and wants to win big. Then you have Jack who is also very good at tennis, but he is more of a playboy. He has a girlfriend named Christina. They are not that serious as they think they are though.

Lizzie and Dave team up against Jack and Christina in a tennis match. Lizzie is trying to win the doubles champion. Jack ends up getting leg cramps so the game is called off. That means Lizzie's chance at winning the champion is also off.

Lizzie and Jack end up suffering injuries at the same time, which makes them have to sit out on a big event. The start to spend a lot more time together and realized that they actually like each other. They even spend time together with Jacks mom. As relationships start to build, other people get in the way. Will Jack and Lizzie end up together as a couple? You will have to read the book to find out.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't think I was going to like it because it was about tennis. I'm not a big fan of books about sports. This was more than just tennis, it was about romance as well. I really love romance books, so this book was a great read for me. Hard to set the book down as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars good book January 1, 2013
Lizzie Brennington is a strong and independent woman, on the brink of winning her first title in a mixed doubles match at the Boca Raton tournament. This is where she meets Jack Archer, a playboy sort of guy. He is her competition for the match. While they are playing, he develops leg cramps and while watching the trainer and Jack, and the real game begins.

The problem is, like in all love stories, Lizzie is furious with Jack and when he makes advances towards her, she get angry. Besides the friction that is caused by their tennis match, Jack has someone in his life and there is another player, a hot-blooded Spaniard, who is already trying to pursue Lizzie.

Jack and Lizzie have a hard go of trying to be together. After arguments that drive them apart, you will wonder, and want to read on to find out, do these two ever make in on the same side of the court.

Over all it was a great book. Not too mushy and sappy. It is a fast read and very enjoyable. The characters come to life and it is easy to get the feel of the story. I would recommend It's A Love Game to anyone who enjoys a love story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, easy read. October 15, 2012
You might think that It's A Love Game is your typical romance. In some ways, it is. There's the obvious chemistry between several of the players that just kept me guessing the whole time. Then you have the romance factor complete with "bronzed thighs" and all. Woven into the story, though, is this constant race to the top that is intriguing to witness. I love the game of tennis and was so interested in the mindset of the players both on and off their games. It was also eye-opening to realize that the players are thrown together in social settings, too, so it makes sense that they might have romantic notions about each other. Just like celebrities, they are forced to survive with paparazzi and the media constantly getting lens time. This aspect was clearly magnified in It's A Love Game yet in a completely understandable way. I overlooked the superfluous love scenes because of this. I'm sure if you take the time to read it, you'll find that Lizzie and Jack keep you plenty entertained.

I received a copy of this book to review. The opinions posted are 100% mine.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a Love Game November 21, 2012
I really enjoyed It's a Love Game by A.G. Starling. I don't really know a whole lot about tennis. I enjoyed learning different things about the game while watching Lizzie & Jack's story unfold. Lizzie is a very talented tennis player looking to win big. She is also very independent and not looking for love.

Jack is also a very talented player but is enjoying his life as the tennis playboy. He has a girlfriend that is also his doubles partner but they are not as serious as Christina thinks they are.

Jack & Lizzie both suffer an injury at the same time and have to sit out a big event. They end up spending time together along with Jack's mother. Sparks start to fly even though neither one is expecting it. As they try to build their relationship they experience some interference from Christina.

I have not read anything by A.G Starling before but I would sure be opening to reading other titles by her.
