It's Never Easy Being Cheesy

Behold, corporate pop at its worst.

Being fair, the album's single (the imaginatively titled "Fast Food Song") is catchy and fun (well, fun-ish), but the rest of the CD is the exemplar of saccharine, committee-produced, ultra-processed pop music. Absolutely horrible. Let's face it, this band was produced as a gimmicky, throwaway pop act just to create the single, so the rest of the album is filler. Filler in the worst possible way. You get 13 inane filler tracks generated by either a computer algorithm or a very cynical person as a practical joke. They're completely unlistenable.

It's tempting to call this the musical equivalent of fast food, because of the context, but at least fast food provides a non-zero amount of nourishment. This is more like musical styrofoam. Musical depleted uranium. Musical dysentery.

While I'm still not inured to the music on this CD, and true, I'd rather cut off my foot with a spoon than listen to it again, I need to admit that I still keep it around, as a weapon of sorts, just to inflict upon people at those appropriate moments. Suddenly the music becomes tolerable, in a meta-humor sort of way. Do you have some unwanted guests? Are in-laws over-staying their welcome? Looking to create a memorable moment at your ex-girlfriend's wedding? Just play a few (or many) choice tracks from this CD and watch everyone cringe, or fidget uncomfortably, or even wallow in mental anguish. Everyone's reaction is unique, like beautiful Lovecraftian snowflakes.

There aren't many CDs that evoke this response, and for that I give it three stars.
