Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

A rebus combines with barnyard animals and their distinctive sounds to produce an engaging excursion. Ages 2-5.

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-K --Pizer takes readers through a day in the life of countryside animals, showing what they enjoy doing and giving their appropriate sound effects. The "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" theme is complete with the repetition of animal sounds and a rebus-style listing of the animals making them. It's a pleasant book, although quite uninspired and with no original twists. The muted illustrations are competent, but lack animation. Still, it does effectively get across certain concepts and could be considered as an additional item for read-aloud sessions. --Janet DiGianni, North Andover High School, MA

Each page of this book repeats the animal sounds of the animals discussed on the previous pages. One animal is added each time. My 2-yr-old twin girls LOVE it! The repetition makes it easy for them to participate with each page turn. Also, the animal is pictured instead of spelled out wich allows me to point & they can tell me which animal we're mimicking...pre-reading skill.
