5.0 out of 5 stars Two words: Sticker Chart!
My daughter has this book and another. This one is better. I love that this one has a chart in the back to place stickers as rewards for peeing, pooing, wiping, flushing and washing her hands. My daughter loves for me to count her stickers and asks for more to put in the empty squares (for which I respond that she has to pee pee first). The Potty Book for Girls doesn't...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book, perhaps for older toddler
Just bought this book for my little girl (16mths old) because it had good reviews and because it has the 'hand washing' step. The book is cute, clear & short. And my daughter loves to "flush". But I was a little disappointed that there wasn't enough explanation of the process. The girl in the book already knows that she needs to go potty. There is no explanation of...

There is no explanation of the fact that it's ok to have accidents, or how to tell Mum you need the potty or that you need to pull your pants down etc... I am pleased I got the book, my daughter does enjoy it but I would have liked a little more build up to using the potty. Perhaps this would be better for a child who already understands the concepts involved.

The Potty Book for Girls doesn't cover washing hands or wiping as this one does! My daughter also loves the flushing sound. I do wish the flushing sound and giggles was not quite so long. We've had the book for a couple of months now and haven't had any problems with the batteries dying (yet), as the other reviewers have. Perhaps they've fixed it. I also like that the writer puts an asterisk by the words "Mommy", "Daddy" "pee" and "poop" offering that you may substitute the word of your choice. It would be nice if it rhymed, but that's the least of my potty training woes! Great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE LOVE this book, May 9, 2007
This review is from: Its Potty Time for Girls (Time To...) (Board book)
I simply love this potty book. I have two children of potty training age...a boy and a girl and I bought both versions of it. My kids love the book and really like the flushing sound. Now when we have "Potty Time" the kids even say "flush, flush, flush" just like the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Potty Time, October 26, 2010

These books are great. I got The Potty Time for Boys, for my older son 4 years ago, just before he was potty training, and it really helped him to not be afraid of the "potty". I recently purchased the Potty Time for Girls, for my youngest daughter. I recommend these books to any parent who want to make the Potty training phase of parenting just a little smoother. The books are basic in text, but offer much detail in illustrations, so the children can really see how to use the potty. The Book has a little button that when pressed, it makes a flushing sound, along with a child's giggle so the kids can get used to the sounds of the potty. It's done in a fun way, and I believe it really gives the children a better understanding of not to be afraid, Because "Everyone goes potty."

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Potty-Training Book, December 13, 2004
By
This review is from: Its Potty Time for Girls (Time To...) (Board book)
My daughter began trying to use the potty at age 2 1/2. We used several books to explain the process as well as a doll that wets. She soon got the hang of going on her little potty. This book, however, helped reinforce what she was doing and got her to move from the potty chair to the "grown-up" potty. FLushing the potty on the book was so much fun she couldn't wait to use the big potty to try it there too. She still likes to her the book and run through the process to confirm she knows how to do all those things like a "big girl".

3.0 out of 5 stars Love it, but batteries died fast..., November 18, 2004

My 20-month-old daughter had this book for 3 months now. She picked this book herself obviously because this one made flushing sounds. She still loves to flip thru the pages, although the batteries only survived the 1st month. There's no way she had pushed the flush button 196 times! I've been trying to find replacement batteries... So far the only ways are to have Radioshack order them in (you need two Vinnic button batteries No. L754), but they'll cost more than the book! Or you can buy "compatible" batteries on-line from places like batteries.com, batterymart.com... etc. I haven't placed any order yet since I'm afraid of getting batteries that's not fresh or not really compatible.
With the help of this book, and the demonstration of the Mattel/Fisher Price "Little Mommy Potty Training Doll", my daughter finally peed into her Graco Softseat Potty. Well... She's still not totally trained (for her it's just an alternate place to pee, other than in the diapers), but it was a big step for her that she finally produced something in a potty she owned and played with for 4 months prior.
Now back to the book. It's fun to read, and my daughter simply loves to sit on my laps and hear me read it. Now she also pretends to read it herself. However I don't understand and feel somewhat cheated that the publisher would choose to use specialty batteries that are so hard to find.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Last Long..., January 10, 2004

1. Bought the book new
2. Gave it to my daughter who loved the sound of the flush
3. Flush stopped in 2 days
4. emailed the publisher, pentonoverseas, stating the problem
5. they responded (!) stating they would send another (!) and the "flush" is designed to last "only 196 times" (!)
6. second book arrived and the flush lasted 1 day.
7. from a limited sample size I would confirm from actual testing that the flush indeed lasts "196 times."
8. would not buy again
9. recommed buying only used for a buck or less

This is a cute book, but the flusher doesn't work. My daughter lost interest quickly when she realized the button didn't do anything.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Daughter Loves it!, June 25, 2006
This review is from: Its Potty Time for Girls (Time To...) (Board book)
Even before my daughter was close to potty training, she loved this book. There is a little button in the book that, when pushed, makes a little flush sound followed by a little girl's giggle. Whenever my baby would hear the giggle, she would start laughing. Now that she's ready for the potty, we'll use the book as it was intended. There is even a little chart included for tracking "potty progress."
