Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 3-7 A most engaging book about the weather. In his usual readable style, Branley intersperses factual information about clouds, precipitation, and winds with interesting anecdotes and easy experiments. The amusing black-and-gray wash illustrations are helpful in setting up the experiments. Included are tidbits about pink and green snow and a formula for computing the number of snowflakes in a snowstorm. This is an excellent addition to the weather book collection in any library. It is comparable to Nature ' s Weather Forecasters (Lodestar, 1978) by Helen Sattler and Understanding Weather (Macmillan, 1970; o.p.) by Harry Milgrom, and, for older readers, Weather Facts & Feats (Guinness, 1977; o.p.) by Ingrid Holford. Kathleen M. Hall, Las Virgenes Unified School District, Westlake Village, Calif.

Review

"Weather has never been such fun; young readers will find the book appealing to dip into, while teachers will find it a good source for ideas to spark up classroom studies." Booklist, ALA

This review is from: It's Raining Cats and Dogs: All Kinds of Weather, and Why We Have It (Hardcover)
I really enjoyed reading this book. It helped me understand about the weather. It explained many things and gave a lot of fun experiments to do and charts to look at. The information was shocking (lightning, get it?)! I truly loved this book. I am 11 years old.
