I searched all over the internet and interviewed every draft owner I could find about how to prepare for my halter class...I found that everyone said something different. This book was great - very basic, but perfect for the beginner (like me). The mane rolling/tail knotting section was especially helpful - we took first place in our yearling halter class at the fair!!

I have been showing draft horses at small county fairs for years before I got this book- My only wish- That it had came out SOONER! I still refer to it at the start of every show season. The draft horse community is quite small and not everyone has an 'old timmer' down the road from them to ask questions....
Mr Mischka has provide all the in's and out's of this almost forgotten tradition of showing a draft in hand. He also provides helpful tips and checklist's for your show ( which I have made a copy and keep in the trailer!) and even tips on docked and undocked tails.... It also includes some of the most beautiful photographs of these great horses from Mr Mischka (also known for his beautiful Draft & Driving calendars) I recomend it to EVERYONE that has ever experssed an intrest in these wonderful Gental Giants!

This is a good book for beginners in the draft show world. The photos are very dated and not particularly interesting in black and white. I did get a couple of good tips out of the halter showing chapter and the prep chapter. The braiding chapter covers showmanship presentation for un-docked tails which is what I really needed the book for. I hope the authors will put out a new edition with better photos and a bit more on ADS presentation. A bit more information for the ladies that drive would be helpful as well.
