It's Simple (Experience Life from a Different Perspective, #1)
Contemporary Fiction

The general consensus is that relationships are easy to start but challenging to maintain. Although we may not think so, our choices ultimately determine the types of relationships we have. It's truly funny how after we've contributed to the chaotic state of the relationship, we hire therapists to fix us, to tell us it's not our fault when it typically is. The truth? Therapists don't fix us; they provide tools that guide us. Ultimately, we find the solutions ourselves and, for the most part, we really need to forget what we've heard. Relationships can be complicated, littered with challenges and that preventable thing called drama. Just ask Tia and Chase.

They met as teenagers. Upon graduation from college, things got complicated. Chase was drafted to the Los Angeles Lakers; Tia was offered a position in the Obama administration. Despite the geographical distance, Tia and Chase stayed together.

But how easy is it to make love last? It's simple-if we can be honest, forgiving, and patient with each other. Here's a unique look at a progressive couple and how their choices impact their journey; providing a truthful and sometimes painful look at real life scenarios and how two fiercely driven and stubborn lovers choose to handle them. Experience life from a different perspective.

4.0 out of 5 stars Live To Read September 24, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This was a terrific book! I was surprised by how much I got to know and enjoy the characters. Tia and Chase were high school sweethearts, they separate during college then decide to reunite again. However, it is not always easy to pick up where you left off. Chase goes with the L.A. Lakers and Tia is on the opposite side of the country working under Obama. It would be easy for the relationship to falter. The story takes off from here.

The characters made the book a very enjoyable read. Tia was very goal-oriented and accomplished, Chase was tough and handsome. They complemented each other very well in the book. The secondary characters round out the story.

The events are fairly fast-paced and the ending was sublime-can't imagine it ending any other way. This book was certainly entertaining, though some of the issues seemed a little exaggerated at times. This book is recommended to adult readers.

*complimentary review copy provided, this does not affect my opinion in any way*

5.0 out of 5 stars Reflective January 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The small reflective insights into relationships were a true gem. The character and there love come alive in this novel. I had the priviledge of meeting the author and she is as fierce as the main character, a fun read and a wonderful author to support!

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply Delightful October 26, 2012
Format:Paperback
Some of my most favorite movies are Love Jones, Brown Sugar, The Best Man, Love and Basketball, etc. What I loved about the book was how much it reminded me of what's great about those stories - Black love celebrated, difficulties and all. It's a journey, not a one time event, love is, so it's good to see it told as such.

I like that the characters were so multidimensional - politically astute, fashionable, beautiful living spaces, funny, down to earth, doing what they loved (not just in a job for a check) sensual . . . I get so tired of seeing Black folks as caricatures on silly shows and movies. We're so much more dynamic, intelligent, reflective, deep, wise, and truly humorous than those depictions. Curious that the media regularly shies away from portraying all of that richness. But I digress . . .

I also enjoyed the dialogue quite a bit. It was really authentic, and created easy visuals for me, which I like. When the narrator was speaking directly to me as a reader, it took me out of the flow of the action, which frustrated me, but I think, 1) it's a personal preference, and 2) it's good that I didn't want to come out of the flow of the story.

Overall, I really appreciate that the book tells a hopeful story in a time where there's so much hopelessness when it comes to love, and I look forward to seeing where this journey ends up! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sexy Read October 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Tia and Chase met as teenagers. After they graduated from college, things got a bit complicated. Chase went on to play for the Lakers and Tia was offered a position in politics in D.C. Tia and Chase managed to stayed together. But can they make it last? You have to read it to find out. This book had some great conversational banter, steamy sex scenes (which I was not expecting) and all around fun! This book is different from any women's fiction that I have read, so it was a nice change.

5.0 out of 5 stars Renewed Hope in Romance November 1, 2011
Format:Paperback
Tia and Chase were high school sweethearts. Although they parted ways during the college years, they never stopped loving eachother. Young love eventually blossomed into something grown and sexy. They weathered storms and championed hurdles to make their relationship work. Despite the challenges of time restraints and distance, they were able to create a life for themselves. With the help and support of family and friends, Tia and Chase are proof that "where there is a will, there is a way."

I really enjoyed It's Simple. Filled with lessons that can be applied to every day life, I enjoyed every single page. Michelle Richardson did a phenomenal job!

Someone recommended this book and I was my usual skeptical self. But I was pleasantly surprised with my overall experience. It was quite the page turner. Loved the positivity. I was both entertained and educated. Michelle has brought an original concept to writing.

What a refreshing change from the usual "he left me, what am I going to do" book! This is a story with strong characters, a positive sense of self, and a healthy commitment to happiness and love. I'm anxious to see what's next for these characters!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! April 23, 2011
By Nikkie
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is a great read. It discusses the ups and downs of a good relationship without all the "drama" that you get in other books. It's about a good and true love with many different relationships, man and woman, parents and child, friends. This is a book that I couldn't put down!! Can't wait for Michelle Richardson's 2nd book!
