I't's a magnificent array of love ballards and mood music. "Call his Name" is one of gospels great songs. Howard has truly out done himself. For all those who haven't heard of Howard Hewitt I urge you to just listen to the soul filled sounds of this mans voice. He has been truly blessed and he knows it. Enjoy and this won't be your last purchase of Howard Hewitt's work.

Five SOULFUL Stars!! Outstanding performances by an R&B and soul icon. Howard Hewett has one of the most distinctive, powerful, and passionate singing voices and he's a 'singer's singer' in the classic tradition of Jeffrey Osborne and Peabo Bryson. And "It's Time" is a triumph of a "quiet storm" love song CD. If you're planning a romantic evening, this is the one to go to first, after dinner, with the repeat button engaged. No uptempo dance songs, just mellow, groovy love songs of today and yesterday and a victorious inspirational ending. Mr Hewett been a busy man since his off and on relationship with "Shalimar", the 1970's and 80's Grammy-winning R&B and dance supergroup (Hewett with Jeffrey Daniel, the lovely Jody Watley, and others like Miki Free) that was the rage in the US and Britain and even influenced Michael Jackson. (Question: where did Michael Jackson get the Moonwalk? Answer: Shalimar 'body-popper' Jeffrey Daniel who taught it to him). Mr Hewett has also been producing, writing, and recording solo and has always been an "A-list" special guest with a galaxy of other stars, most recently with Teena Marie on Congo Square, Norman Connors on Star Power and rising star Antoinette on Verbal Crush. Now, finally we get his latest solo CD and his voice is AWESOME, producing lovely, heartfelt, romantic, and inspirational music.

The 'best of the best' begins with "Crystal Clear" with Hewett soaring and vamping over the bouncy beat of this love song, whipping up a firestorm of passion. The overwhelming beauty of "This Love is Forever" finds Hewett in falsetto mode and totally convincing. "Your Body Needs Healin' " is prime material for nationwide "quiet storm" radio stations giving step-by-step advice on how to conduct an evening of love. Then he turns up the heat even more with wonderful versions of Average White Band's funky hit "A Love of Your Own" and Marvin Gaye's fantastic, seldom-attempted "Just To Keep You Satisfied" (so good it's scary) which shows both the Gaye influence on Hewett and also how different they are. Perhaps best of all is the show-stopping "How Do I Know I Love You" (that went straight to my iPod). The CD ends with the celestial inspiration of "Amazing Grace" and the solid advice of "Call His Name", reminding us of Mr. Hewett's gospel influences and successes. Definitely one of the BEST soul/R&B CDs of the year and clearly Grammy-worthy. Howard Hewett is an amazing singer and this gets MY Highest Recommendation. Since admiring Howard Hewett's voice as the lead singer of the group Shalamar I looked for an album which totally showcased the power,range and beauty of this man's voice. I decided to purchase It's Time. With no exaggeration,every track on this album is a masterpiece. This is Howard Hewett with his superb voice at its absolute soul tingling BEST! JH

I ordered (Its Time by Howard Hewett) the song (call his name) #13 will not play. I took it out of the box an discarded the invoice . returned home an spouse had put packing in trash.CD no good.I guess I am out of luck.

The music was so smooth,and it made me think of when i was a young girl growing up with the best R and B every. the young people are really missing the music that makes you think,fall in love,and feel good.

Oh, my gosh...I can't POSSIBLY give this any less than a five-star rating! As previously noted by other reviewers, if you're planning a romantic evening, make sure this CD is one of the components! Although this was probably a lesser-known album then some of its predecessors, it's definitely worth the price of admission! Howard, as always, lets you into his musical grotto, whisking you on a journey through the disc with his powerful yet fragile vocal gymnastics. Two tracks that stand out here are his SA-MOKIN' remake of the Average White Band's "A Love Of Your Own," where he starts off by telling his right-hand man Mont Seward about the song and how he wants to pay homage, KILLS it, and then pats himself on the back at the end when Seward tells him, "That was funky," and Howard arrogantly (but accurately) replies, "That was REAL funky!" The other track is "How Do I Know I Love You," which, I must say, the lyrics from the bridge are simple but stunning: "I'll take you on a magic carpet ride/flip around Venus, through Mars, and down the other side..." I implore you take a listen! Definitely on par with some of his earlier singles such as "I'm For Real," "Once, Twice, Three Times" and "Show Me."

there are songs missing, the original album has 15 teen songs. i bought the album and favorite songs like "Call His Name" and other are missing.

THIS WAS A VERY GOOD PRUCHASE. I THOUGHT THAT I HAD HEARD ALL OF HIS WORKS, BUT THIS ONE IS COMPLETELY OUT OF SITE. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS JUST PUT THE DISK IN AND YOU ARE AUTOMACTICALLY PUT IN A DAZE. HIS VOICE AND THE HIS RANGE IS CRAZY.

THIS CD IS THE BOMB! THIS IS THE TYPE OF MUSIC WE NEED IN THE WORLD TODAY. THIS IS THE TYPE OF CD YOU SIT BACK ON A FRIDAY NIGHT WITH A GLASS OF WINE AND TURN THE LIGHTS DOWN LOW AND JUST CHILL!!!

Such a good voice and an excellent album...but he sure needs better material for his caliber...the most underrated singer of our time. GET ALL OF HIS MUSIC WHILE YOU CAN...A PURE SINGER LIKE THIS WILL HARDLY COME AGAIN.
