5.0 out of 5 stars The CD blew me away!
When I first heard of Sam Salter and the song "After 12, Before 6" was first released, I thought that he was a decent singer but I wasn't overly crazy about that song. In any case, I decided to go ahead and buy this CD to see if it was any good. Well, let me say that I was blown away by how fantastic this CD was. There are only a handful of CD's I own (and...

3.0 out of 5 stars TALENTED VOCALIST LOST IN A SEA OF MOSTLY AVERAGE SONGS.
Salter is a vocalist to watch for. However, with the exception of the standout title song(!!!), it's routine assembly-line R&B here.

The other songs are good but sound like any other jam on Quiet Storm radio these days.

There are only a handful of CD's I own (and I own a LOT) that I can honestly say that I don't feel the need to skip some/most of the songs to get to that special song or two. This CD starts out great and NEVER lets up! My favorites are "There You Are" and "On My Heart" but the other songs are only a little behind them in quality. One of the best R&B cd's I've ever bought!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Music!, April 13, 2003

I purchased this CD back in 1997 and it still gets a lot of play in my house. Sam Salter should have been large. This CD holds a lot of great tunes, such as... "Your Face", "It's On Tonight", "I Love You Both", "On My Heart" and my favorite "There You Are". Definitely worth the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't get much better than this!, November 10, 2006
This review is from: It's on Tonight (Audio CD)
As to how this disc flew under the radar in '97 and '98 is still a mystery to me. The depth and passion in Sam Salter's music is simply undeniable and any true fan of R&B would do well to have this project in their collection. From beginning to end Sam delivers the goods, with no fillers in between. So much that instead of waiting for the next selection you'll probably engage the playback button to revisit each track again and again. Now how many CDs can you say that about? I've had this disc since it came out, but I went down memory lane this past week and played it again. The songs are as fresh, genuine and intimate today as they were yesterday. I don't know what happened to Sam's music career, but R&B needs him back and in a hurry. Anyway, my favorite tracks are "Your Face," After 12, Before 6," "Give Me My Baby," "I Love You Both," "Thinkin' And Trippin'," "It Took A Song," you get the point, now get the CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow its really good!, February 28, 2004
This review is from: It's on Tonight (Audio CD)
While I was looking through amazon I found this album and its "how great reviews". My speculation kind of made me wonder if this album was really good or not, so like I always do I went to download some samples of the songs on the album. To my surprise this album was very good! "It's On Tonight, Your Face, After 12, Before 6 and Everytime a Car Drives By," are my favorties! This guy has got some great voice and along with nice beats. Excellent album I will sure add to my HUGE collection of RnB!

I will agree with some of the previous reviews that this is a very consistent album from start to finish.I think this is a far better album than some of the more succesful R&B albums of the last couple of years.I hope Sam will be doing a new album in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's On Tonight, November 21, 1999

One of the smoothest CDs over the past three years. It amazes me how few people have heard about Sam Salter. This is a PLAYER's CD, smooth yet hip. Keeps the head bopping all the way thru.

Sam Salter is the BOMB!!!! This cd is excellent! If you are in the mood for love making pop this cd in, and it will set the mood. Sam has a voice that will make your heart melt if you let it. My only suggestion is that I hope that he continues to produce music because talent like this is hard to find.

This is one of those cds that you can just let it play all the way through. This is what R&B is all about. You will not be dissapointed with any song

5.0 out of 5 stars Sam is the best RnB singer!, January 5, 2005

This review is from: It's on Tonight (Audio CD)
I love my RnB. Artsits like Joe, Tyrese, Brian McKnight, Jaheim, Babyface, Musiq..they are all great. However, Sam Salter has an edge to him that puts him a notch above the rest. It's his soulful voice with so much emotion and beautiful lyrics that all have something special to say. I wish he would have released his 2nd album "The Black Book", I don't know what happened to it, but I have the songs from it and it's just as great. For all old and new Sam Salter fans, we need to support such an incredible artist so that we can hear more good works from him. I've bought so many of his cds for gifts and everyone absolutely loves it. Sam...keep it coming..PLEASE!!!!

I bought this album in 1997 when it came out, and I still love it to death. The production, songwriting, and voicals are excellent. The whole album just flows from start to finish. If you love good R&B get this CD.
This album is better than: Avant, Tank, Tyrese, Etc.
My favorite songs are:
Show you that I Care & Everytime A Car Drives By
