We use this book at nap time. My son loves it. He seems to really enjoy the repetitiveness of this book - as each Teletubby is found and put to bed.

Great bedtime story,
This review is from: It's Tubby Bedtime (Teletubbies) (Paperback)
My 14 month old daughter loves this book. She just loves the teletubbies which was a plus. The pictures are great, they look just like the TV show. My daughter loves to read this book for hours. The story follows each tubby going to bed and one by one each tubby sneeks off to play during bed time. The only thing is I wish this book was a boradbook.

My 2 1/2 year old daughter found an old old Teletubby toy in a box when we were moving. I confess it had been a promotional gift from the lat 90s. She was instantly besotted. I honestly felt like it was harmless to let her play with the Teletubbies, after all, it has been years since the tv show was cancelled. Ha! Her obsession has only grown. She carries all 4 Tubbies to bed. I bought the book based on other reviews and thought it was AWFUL when I read through first however, despite it being a little "too young" for her I think she enjoys a book which is predictable, simple and repetitive at naptime or bedtime. Of course we also read "finer" books like Madeline, Curious George and all of the Caldecott winners but there is some certain charm to the Teletubbies which is not for us parents to understand. I wouldn't necessarily object to her losing interest but, in my book, better the madcap imaginative Teletubbies than boring princesses any day of the week!

Baby Loves It / Pretty Repetitive,
By Pamela D. Crouch "pam_c_of_austin_tx" (Pflugerville, TX United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: It's Tubby Bedtime (Teletubbies) (Paperback)
This is one of those books that your child will truly love, but that you will be sort of ambivalent about. :oJ In it, the Teletubbies repeatedly try to take a nap, only to discover that one Tubby is outside, playing. The errant Tubby comes back in, and all the Tubbies have to be sung to sleep all over again. This is repeated 4 times (once for each Tubby.) I'd recommend it, with the repetition being the only irritating part. My 18-month-old boy loves this book, and asks to read it frequently. It's already pretty ragged from being read so much, even though we've only had it a few months. |
