1.0 out of 5 stars Poor editing makes it very confusing for kids, July 11, 2010
This review is from: It's Valentine's Day! (Nick Jr. Blues Clues) (Board book)
There must have been some lack of communication between the proofreader and the printer when this board book was published. The plot of the story is simple enough--Blue and Sprinkles throw a surprise party for their friends. But the first problem arises on page 7, when Blue asks the reader, "Will YOU help us find three red balloons? Great job!" Out of the 5 balloons in that scene, ALL of them are PINK. For an audience that's just beginning to learn their colors, it's very confusing to be posed a question that can't be solved...and then praised for an answer that's completely wrong. To make matters worse, Blue's valentine to the reader on page 10 begins, "Balloons are red, and I am Blue..." The first time my toddler read this book, we had to talk about how the author made a mistake...which is a valuable lesson, I suppose. But the publisher was probably in a rush to make a quick buck by getting this out before Valentine's Day. They should have avoided such careless mistakes.
