5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing, different & completely addictive!!, April 30, 2003

This review is from: It's You It's Me (Audio CD)
Kaskade treats you with the very best of deep house, broken beats and chill. His sound is soulful and incredibly melodic! I couldn't wait until this album came out because he teased us with his other Om records releases! Some notable songs on the album are "It's You It's Me" (true San Fran sound!), "Call Me Wise," "This Rhythm," "What I Say," (Hot song!) & "I Feel Like."

If you like artists like Miguel Migs, Mark Farina & Blue Six, then this is a must have album!!!! Every deep house fan will fall in love with this album!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected..., August 15, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: It's You It's Me (Audio CD)
I heard the slightly cheesy but really catchy single "It's You It's Me" on the radio and figured I'd buy.

I was surprised with what I found. This isn't straight-ahead house. This is a unique and soulful exploration of jazz-house; it never strays too far from mainstream, but it never _is_ mainstream, either. In some ways, I'm reminded of Royksopp's Melody A.M.: the elements seem familiar, but the result feels fresh.

Standout tracks include the title track and the stunningly beautiful and hard-to-pin-down This Rhythm... To be honest, I found something to like in each and every track: a rarity for me when listening to electronic CDs.

Sweet, soulful sounds. A surprise. A small package bearing a familar name. Contents: A sheet of paper. An unfamilar CD. "It's You, It's Me" is Kaskade's first release in his three album deal with Om Records, though deep house lovers have been grooving to his productions and mixes for many years. Organic and deep without loosing himself, for this album Kaskade worked with three vocalists who's range of R&B, soul and house influences are the perfect complement for Kaskade's layered soundscapes. While each track stands on its own as a small masterpiece, certain tracks have that extra unforgettable melody or super sensual beats, including the title track, the Soft Shuffle Mix of "What I Say" and the super smooth "Call Me Wise". This is music that has become my favorite springtime soundtrack, and is destined to be one of the best albums of the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kaskade - further proof that West Coast House music is manna from heaven, December 11, 2005
By
This review is from: It's You It's Me (Audio CD)
The fact that Kaskade hails from OM records in San Francisco - the epicenter of West Coast House - should be all that anyone needs to know. However, since I see that you are reading the reviews, you might need more convincing. If this is the case, please let me assure you that Kaskade, and this album, is perfection personified for anyone looking for silky-smooth feel good house music.

This album is a sweet, sexy, mildly thumping ride from beginning to end. It is everything you would expect and hope for when turning to west coast house music. The female vocals (haven't checked to see if it is one vocalist or a couple different ones) are absolutely beautiful - soulful and slinky, yet subdued, never overpowering the the atmospheric music pulsating below.

Give this a listen - "Meditation to the Groove", "I Feel Like", "This Rhythm", "Seeing Julie", and "It's You, It's Me" are personal favorites - then pick it up. Check out other Kaskade albums on this site as well, they're all 5-star productions. I've found that iTunes also has all of his albums along with many, many impossible to find remixes of his singles.

5.0 out of 5 stars PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC, WHITE BOY!!!!!, November 4, 2005
This review is from: It's You It's Me (Audio CD)
I by no means am prejudice, but this white boy can jam his @$$ off!!! Kaskade's "It's You, It's Me" is one of the best dance CDs that I've heard in a while. But it's not only dance, Kaskade also gives you heavy doses of R&B, funk and ambient grooves. His flavor can be likened to that of Miguel Migs, utilizing soulful vocals and live instrumentation that gives this release a warm, human quality. Nothing here sounds repetitive like most dance releases which makes it truly a highly recommended CD!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Kaskade - It's You, It's Me, February 24, 2011
This review is from: It's You It's Me (Audio CD)
Sweet and deep, that's the best way to describe Kaskade's debut album, IT'S YOU, IT'S ME on San Francisco's powerhouse label Om. "Meditation to the Groove" sets the mood immediately, with a driving beat, sinewy vocals, and sensuous chords, while "I Feel Like" sounds like a kissing cousin of Dirty Vegas' hit "Days Go By." "What I Say" and "Get Busy" introduce smooth grooves that are sure to help you get into the pants of your honey, while "This Rhythm" goes for some broken beats and diva vocals. The title track adds a bit of guitar flavor for variety, and it's worth it (though the riffs can get annoying at times). "Charlie's Plight" goes downtempo with a tinge of sadness. "Close" brings the album to an end with sweetness and light. Despite some flaws, most notably lack of variation within the tracks themselves, Kaskade has made one of those rare house albums that sounds good outside of a club as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A soulful experience, December 9, 2004

Hmmmmmmm... Like anything else, everyone has different tastes in house music. Saying this however, this is definitely one of the nicer house cds out there. Many of the songs have a rather hypnotic melody, catchy beats, and soulful taste - I would say a unique distinction for Kaskade. This CD has a mellow and beautiful quality to it - just put it in your CD player, close your eyes and let your mind drift afar.

I love the sound of Kaskade. The mix of vibes is something I've looked for in clubs for years. Oddly enough, I play this at work and my co-workers like it and yell for me to "crank it up".
