I've kissed dating goodbye. I've given dating a chance. I've been a lady in waiting. So far, none of that has worked for me. So when I was part of Jon Acuff's Start Experiment, and saw that one of my fellow starters had written a book on dating, I figured that I would spring for it, if nothing more than to write a review for a buddy. I borrowed this book on Amazon Prime for free, figuring that I had nothing to lose. In retrospect, I would have had nothing to lose by paying $5 for this book - be brave and get it! I found as I read it that I really was glad I got this book, and gleaned a lot from it.

Reading this book felt like sitting down with the one relative who doesn't constantly feed you stories of how awesome you are and what a shame it is that you're still single. Instead, she points out the ways that singles self-sabotage relationships. She doesn't give us an excuse to wallow in lonely self-pity. Her style is grab-the-bull-by-the-horns and 'don't give me excuses.' Makes me think that maybe I really am the reason I'm still single, and that I have some habits that need to be changed.

The book was a relatively simple read. I finished it in about 45 minutes. For those who are adverse to it, West does use some mild profanity. It was not enough to be a turn-off for me (it added to the idea of the relative who doesn't placate me with how awesome I am), but not all would appreciate it.

Overall, this was a great book and definitely worth a read! Kudos, Genevieve!

To-the-point relationship advice everyone should read (and re-read) regardless of your marital status. Laugh out loud funny truths we tend to ignore or never were taught. A must read for men, women, singles, daters, haters, and those that have said I Do!

I disagreed with about 15% of this book...but that's what makes it so amazing!

It's not a blanket singles book designed to make you feel good about yourself. It challenges you and your preconceived notions about dating and why you're still single (hint: it really is your fault). It has a little something for every type of single person.

And Genevieve does a wonderful job of combining truth and grace in her advice. I would even go so far as to say she's the Simon Cowell of the single world. You might not like what she has to say...but you know she's always right. ;)

While I still believe in soulmates and am still a romantic "butterflies" believer at heart, Genevieve has made some excellent points about why singles are...well still single.

I would recommend this to a lot of my single friends! Also...there's a chapter on sex. Yeah. She went there ;)

Good job Genevieve! I'm so proud of you!

Great read for anyone who has struggled with looking for love. Genevieve gives you an objective view about why one can be single for so long, and best of all she is down right honest. You may even get mad at the book because frankly we probably have done at least one of the "don'ts" that is mentioned in the book. I love that it is short and still makes really great points of what we as people do wrong to catch the man or woman one may desire. I recommend "It's YOUR FAULT you're single" to anyone who is looking for love or is suffering from a heartbreak. :)

This was a short, fast read with good self evaluation and analytical suggestions, logical advice, and humor. The author uses common language which makes reading easy for all ages. A good proofreader before publication would have made the simplest grammatical and spelling errors nonexistent. Whiie language errors caused this reader to re-read the same sentence to be sure of the author's intent, and I did find it somewhat distracting, the subject kept me pushing forward. From experience as a divorcee and a widowed survivor of a successful 34 year marriage I can attest to many of the tenets the author holds as truths. I too hope any single looking to find a good mate for the purpose of a successful marriage reads this book and follows Genevieve's suggestions.

i think that genevieve brings a unique perspective to the world of dating advice! she says that dating is *our* responsibility-- that the one we'll love is not going to fall out of the sky. it's reassuring because it means that you do have some level of control over yor dating life, while still allowing for the beautiful mystery of falling in love.

My friend posted this book and said her single friends should read it, so I thought I would see if it was true. I completely get where she is coming from and I agree with the book and author entirely. I've been "preaching" this stuff for years. So it was a great reminder to practice what I preach.

The author gets straight to the point, which in this case is a good thing! I found some of the points useful and helpful so happy about that. I wish it had been a little bit longer as I like longer books (which is why I am giving it a 3), but it was free so I took a chance on it. I'm glad I did. Overall I'd say it's one of the good ones ;-)
