About the Author

Mary Guarino is a life coach working with people in transition. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and completed her coaching training through the Institute for Life Coaching. Her workshop series It's Your Time Now was the inspiration for this book. Mary lives in Connecticut with her two wonderful daughters.

I have been enjoying this book for months as sort of a bedtime pill to keep me centered towards projects that are important to me. It's like having a life coach at my bedside or in my purse on the bus.

The author has helped me to organize my scattered and intense thoughts. In each chapter, questions are asked and I have answered them as honestly as possible. Besides being fun to do, the results is that I have a clearer image of myself. I can see who I am a bit better and have a new strategy to bring out the best in me by getting myself into a nurturing work environment. This is, to say the least: helpful.

The book doesn't read like a CosmoGirl quiz nor a Graduate school textbook. It's serious, it takes work to get through but you get custom-tailored strategies in return for the work you put in.
On the other hand, you could just read the book straight through without doing the exercises and still get alot out of it. You will probably want to go back a second time more slowly.

The light purse size format is convenient for travel.

I appreciate the displayed dense research and references, wit and sensitivity. The author obviously knows her stuff and makes it accessible to people like me, a corporate multimedia artist turning into a educational children's illustrator after 4 years of maternity leave.

I would recommend this book to anyone that is in (or thinking about creating) a transition; be it personal or professional. Both entertaining and enlightening, it is a self-help at it's finest!

wow! a small package [in number of pages], but this book packs a lot of great insight. recommended reading lists and web references help make it a value resource.

i quickly read it through, and will now use the 8-week plan to figure out "what's next" in my life. oh yea, some great references throughout the book on the various aspects of research that was consulted. i especially loved the chapter on dreams and dreamers.
