This is a Cortelco model 2705 (which is the same as a 2700 plus a Plantronics wireless headset interface).
NOTE: The "In" in the product title is for "Interface". It does NOT include the wireless headset shown in the picture. What you get is an additional headset jack which accepts Plantronics wireless headset cords and the cord, no wireless stuff. I would give this phone 5 stars except for 1 problem - when you use the headset, the speaker in the handset is still activated. If someone else is close to the phone, and you have the volume set high, they might be able to overhear both sides of your conversation. If you are on the handset, and switch to the headset w/o putting the handset back in the cradle, this is more pronounced because the cradle is not muffling the handset speaker. I contacted Cortelco and explained the problem to one of their engineers. He called me back the next day and told me that nobody had reported this problem, but that when he checked other model 2705 phones, they all had the same problem. He said that the model 2700 phones would have the same problem, because they use the same pc boards. I purchased this phone because I wanted a 1-line corded phone with a 2.5 mm headset jack and separate speaker/headset buttons. I also wanted a phone which had a handset which would seat properly in the handset cradle. My old phone would not be hungup sometimes when I put the handset down, and would get pulled off-hook easily (though not visibly) when moving it. This resulted in the phone line tied up without my knowing it (the off-hook tone was muffled by the cradle and I couldn't hear it). I looked at a lot of phones (in stores and on-line). None of the combination corded/cordless sets (that I looked at) had headset jacks in the base unit. It seems that there aren't many 1-line corded telephones with 2.5 mm headset jacks. I found a couple of cheaper ones with a headset jack but they appeared to have the same off-hook problem my old phone had. I finally found this model from Cortelco, which looks and feels like a quality phone. It is not made from the light-weight plastic and cheap buttons so common to many phones these days. I've only had it for a couple of weeks, so I can't comment on it's electronic reliability. I am extemely happy with the phone's features. My wife liked it so much, she ordered one the day after I received mine. Even with the problem mentioned above, I prefer this phone over all the others I looked at. When you hang it up, there is no question about whether or not it is on-hook. It is not easy to pull it off-hook with the cord. It can take a 2.5mm, RJ-11, or Plantronics wireless headset plug (3 different jacks). (The 2700 only has the first 2.) It has a speaker phone button and a seperate headset button for going off-hook and on-hook easily with either. There is a 99 number/name directory (aside from the 10 direct select numbers) you can select from for dialing. There is a 99 call Caller ID history you can select from for dialing. If you press redial after you go off-hook, you get the last number called. If you press redial first, you get to select one of the last 10 numbers called to auto-dial. You can pre-dial the number (and see that you've punched it in correctly), then go off-hook to auto-dial. The display is back-lit and tilts up for a easy viewing. You can review all of the features by looking at the Cortelco website 7 Series model 2700 manual I would have bought the 2700 model because I really didn't need the wireless headset port, but this was cheaper for some reason. Shipping was excellent, I ordered the 1st phone on Sunday 9/20/2009 (Amazon/ANTonline), and received it (in Austin, TX) on Tuesday 9/22 using regular UPS Ground. (It came one day earlier than the expected shipping date.) Similarly, my wife's phone was ordered on 9/23 and recv'd on 9/25.

After dumping "the phone company" for Comcast Digital Voice service I wanted to replace my awful telephone w/digital answering system with one that would flash a light when a message was left on my Comcast voice mail and hopefully have a dedicated voice mail button as well. My existing phone would update the LCD display if there was a remote message waiting but it reserved the blinking light for its own message system.
I'm sure there are many phones on the market that offer the same compatibility with Comcast as this phone does (via stutter tone and caller ID/FSK) and also with other service providers but their online marketing didn't give me enough information to know for certain if it would work. After some research I read what I wanted to know and I ordered this phone from Amazon. It's great! - A large red LED flashes on top when there is a message waiting on the remote voice mail system (Comcast via stutter tone) - Press a dedicated voice mail button and it turns on the speaker phone and dials right into the voice mail system (number is programmable) - The Speaker, Headset, Mute, and Hold buttons themselves light up brightly when in use - A large display has big bold digits and is brightly backlit when the phone is is use and also the angle of the display is adjustable - There is a programmable phone directory (I haven't set this up yet) Finally, I also have an older wireless Plantronics headset (CS361N) and the setup works perfectly with this phone. The phone-lifter cable even comes with this phone (it wasn't included with the Plantronics headset). I have it all configured such that if I lift the headset off its charger then the phone is automatically taken off the hook; no sequence of button pressing required to hear a dial tone or to answer a call. As for quality, it's no worse than any other phone out there and is an incredible value when you compare it to more expensive phone, such as ones from Siemens. If you are looking for a phone to use with your cable company's phone service then this is a good choice.

What were the designers thinking?,
This review is from: Itt 2705 270500-tp2-27s Feature W/ Plan (Electronics)
I had this phone for several months before I realized that it had a fatal flaw that makes it useless to me. Its most important feature is that it electronically mates to Plantronics headsets. However, it also broadcasts both sides of your call through the base unit's handset while you are using the headset. Hello? You read that correctly. You can be in another room talking on a wireless headset, and someone can be listening while they are near the phone base. In other words, it acts like a speakerphone broadcasting your call to everyone within earshot. What were they thinking? What the bloody H**L were they thinking? I cannot give Cortelco a grade higher than F quadruple minus on this one. If the manufacturer would modify his product to remove or turn off this dubious "feature", it would be a halfway decent phone. Call quality is not superb, but not bad either. The controls are arranged in some quirky ways and are overly complex, but a user can get used to it. The durability and quality is better than residential phone, but less than a typical major brand commercial unit. But letting others listen to your call? What were they thinking?

I needed a phone for my home office. I was looking for something that didn't cost an arm and a leg and yet did everything I needed it to do. After spending hours looking in my local stores and on-line, I decided to try this one. I'm so glad I picked this one - this phone is the best! I've had it for a couple months now and I'm very pleased.
For my home office, the right phone had to have the following: * Corded desk phone - cordless sometimes interferes with my VPN * Speaker phone - with good quality for both me and the listener * Mute button - one that I don't have to hold down but that is an on/off switch * Headset port - so I can plug in my 2.5mm corded headset while taking conference calls (and RJ type port too) * Caller ID - for selective call answering * Redial with Pause - for dialing with an access code * Call Duration - so I know how long the meeting is running * Date and time - yeah, it is on my laptop too but I like it on the screen * Easily change the volume of the ring to "off" - so when the baby is sleeping in my office, the ring doesn't startle him awake at the most inopportune time This phone has it all plus: * The mute button turns RED when I have it engaged so I can't forget - ever start talking and forget you were on mute?! * Easy, intuitive setup * Phone number memory storage * Hold * Flash * Release * Data port * Screen Contrast adjustment * Voice Mail/message light/message waiting * Directory * 2 year warranty I'm very pleased and would recommend this phone to anybody working from home, doing the virtual/remote/commute thing.

I could not find any other non-VoIP phone that integrates with Plantronics Wireless headsets. Features are good, but sound quality for both speakerphone and headset is very poor. The same plantronics wireless device works great with mordern IP phones like Avaya.

I looked everywhere for a corded phone with a headset jack for my home business. I purchased this phone with the belief that if it didn't work properly I wouldn't be too upset considering the price. This phone is a great buy! My only complaint is the menu was a little difficult to navigate but not so difficult that I was ready to toss the phone.

i got this phone because i was having problems with my old phone disconnecting in mid-conversation (turns out it was with the phone service and not the cheap phone i was using). when i was looking for a replacement, all i wanted was a simple corded speaker phone with a backlit screen and call waiting caller ID and I couldn't believe how hard it was to find that (especially a backlit screen) for a decent price. I'd never heard of this company (Cortelco) but it had all the features I needed so I took a chance. For the cost (which was VERY reasonable) I'm REALLY pleased with all the features and the quality of sound. It has a headset feature that I don't need so I don't know how well that works, but I work from home and I think it makes a great office phone.

The phone has a very good display - large, easy to read even in bright ambient light. Tilting display makes it good for wall mount. It has all the features one would expect. Sound quality is very good. The instruction manual could use some help. In particular, the writer uses what appears to be "phone company" buzz-words or acronyms which may be meaningless to the average consumer, or worse - confusing. It should not be necessary for one to be a phone company tech-weenie in order to understand the user manual completely and clearly. Great product, tech writers get a C-. Dealing with Amazon, as usual, goes without a hitch; product delivered ahead of initial schedule.
