Biography

"The group's upbeat, soul-infused reggae attack puts the rock back in rocksteady. Mixing ska, Motown and punk-rock energy with Jamaican rhythm, The Aggrolites tear it up with the intensity of The Clash and the heart of the Caribbean." - Ink Magazine (February 2009)

The Aggrolites are more than a band they are a movement unto themselves. They carry a banner - one created with their own hands. This… Read more in Amazon's The Aggrolites Store

Editorial Reviews

The Aggrolites have shared stages with Social Distortion, Madness, Rancid, Flogging Molly, 311, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Dropkick Murphys, The Vandals, Against Me!, The Aquabats, Hepcat, The Skatalites, Prince Buster, and Derrick Morgan. Here, they offer their brand of funky old-school ska and reggae, lovingly representing the classic sounds of 70s Jamaica to a generation that has never heard of Studio One. This is their most accomplished set yet, with more soulful settings to feature singer Jesse Wagner's Motown-inflected voice. The record arrives on the heels of the band accepting their first appearance at Coachella, and backing Rancid's Tim Armstrong on his debut solo album.

This is the best Aggrolites disc so far. They just keep getting better and better! They have backed other bands as a band and as individuals and all the experience is paying off! Soul style singing over gritty L.A. sound (Dirty Reggae).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album, July 9, 2009
This review is from: Iv (Audio CD)
As a longtime fan of ska & reggae I am thrilled that there are still bands out there carrying the torch, but also adding their own unique flavor and style. The Aggrolites are a great, fun band, and this album does not disappoint in the least. The funk, r&b, and soul elements that they add to their reggae/ska roots are just fantastic. Come tap your feet and sing along!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hear That Funky Reggae Sound!, September 12, 2010

Fans left slightly disappointed by the band's third album, fear not: The Aggrolites are back - if they ever left - and this album is just as solid as the first two. Their singular fusion of soul, funk, and skinhead reggae with bubblegum backbeats and "James Brown meets Jimmy Cliff" vocals is not meant to be reviewed, it is meant to be enjoyed. You'll like this, your kids will like this, and your grandparents might like this... just get the album. In fact, get all their albums!
