4.0 out of 5 stars Having second thoughts about voting for Hillary
I am a long-time Democrat and was looking forward to Hillary's run for the Presidency in 2008. This book was certainly interesting and entertaining, but it also raised a valid concern that perhaps Hillary's character isn't what she portray's it to be.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mildly interesting
I detest the Clintons, both of them and believe they are the absolute worst that politics has to offer.
However there are some things in this particular book that are questionable and a bit overboard.
Clinton cultists will of course hate everything about it, even those things that are verifiable while I mostly object to the he said, she said aspects of some of...

This book highlights why Hillary Clinton cannot be trusted with the highest office in the land. She is a role model for dishonesty, arrogance, opportunism, and nastiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars He's taking a risk of criticism, but......., April 28, 2006
This review is from: I've Always Been A Yankees Fan: Hillary Clinton in her Own Words (Paperback)
By putting a book together of this magnitude, Author Tom Kuiper is definitely opening up Hillary's "can of worms." There will be many who definitely do not want this book to be read.

I would encourage each person to read this charming book of quotes compiled by many different and well-researched sources and make their own decision.

I will bet you will be laughing out-loud within the first 15 minutes of reading the book (admit it those of you who read it, you did it too!)

This is a definite must-have book.

5.0 out of 5 stars You have to read this book., May 15, 2006
This review is from: I've Always Been A Yankees Fan: Hillary Clinton in her Own Words (Paperback)
This is book that had to be written and it is one that you have to read. Anyone who cares at all about politics and knowing the true character of a potential presidential candidate has to be concerned about Hillary Clinton's true character. This book speaks volumes as to her character--morals, honesty, truthfulness, etc. It is very well documented as to the source of each quote and it is hard to argue with the evidence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kuiper's critics weren't "there" either, May 12, 2006
This review is from: I've Always Been A Yankees Fan: Hillary Clinton in her Own Words (Paperback)
When Tom Kuiper said on CNN "since I wasn't there, I can't verify that it's 100 percent true," he was simply stating the obvious.

Trying to dismiss this book because the author wasn't "there" is pure nonsense.

Every historian writes about events that he/she was not present at.

Every courtroom jury is expected to judge defendants based on information that they have no way of verifying.

People accept sports scores all the time by just reading news reports of games that they never attended or even watched on television.

The critics of this book weren't "there" either. They are relying on the credibility of their sources, the same way Kuiper is relying on his. The two approaches are identical.

Is Kuiper's utterance all that significant?

Author James Frey had been forced to admit publicly that his best-selling memoirs "A Million Little Pieces" and "My Friend Leonard" were largely fabricated even though they were sold as non-fiction.

Yet look at these two reviews found in Amazon.com:

"A Million Little Pieces" -

Reviewer: onepolishgirl April 8, 2006
"Million Little Pieces was one fantastic novel. It doesn't matter to me one bit that it's all or half fiction."

"My Friend Leonard" -

Reviewer: J. Cameron-Smith April 24, 2006
"I have just finished reading 'My Friend Leonard'. The debate about the balance between true and not true, fact and fiction is unimportant to me."

In that light, there should be no problem for people who want to read Kuiper's book.

4.0 out of 5 stars An "F" on the Character Test, April 9, 2006
This review is from: I've Always Been A Yankees Fan: Hillary Clinton in her Own Words (Paperback)
Thomas Kuiper has put together this collection of Hillary Clinton's opinions on a wide range of topics, culled from many sources, including her own autobiography "Living History," as well as President Clinton's "My Life." Many of the "tell all" books that came out during the Clinton years in the White House, like FBI Agent Gary Aldrich's "Unlimited Access" provide material, and Kuiper Adds his own explanation after each quote, with the why and where Mrs. Clinton made these (sometimes conflicting) comments.

A good way of knowing the stuff someone is made of, is to observe how they behave towards those people who are subservient to them, and in this regard, Mrs. Clinton shows despicable character. Even if only a small percentage of the examples cited are true, her appalling crassness and demeaning treatment of those in menial positions, always laced with trashy profanity, will put many off electing her on a national scale. One would think that a woman of Mrs. Clinton's intelligence would have a more creative way of expressing herself than the constant use of the "F" word.

Along with a plethora of rather unattractive photos of Mrs. Clinton, "I've Always Been a Yankees Fan" has a foreword by Dick Morris, the one-time advisor and friend of President and Mrs. Clinton, who now profits from "spilling the beans," and there are plenty of beans for a fine stew. Perhaps it's his thorny retribution for a Clinton remark that he had the "people skills of a porcupine."

"I've Always Been a Yankees Fan" is a quick read and may be a handy little book should Mrs. Clinton decide to run for the most important job in the world, as it is informative about many of her policy positions, and revealing of her character.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do we want someone like this in the White House?, March 17, 2006
This review is from: I've Always Been A Yankees Fan: Hillary Clinton in her Own Words (Paperback)
There is no better way to assess the true character of a person than by the way they act when the spotlight is not focused on them. Someone like Hillary, who has strived all her life for power and attention, treats everyone around her like "trained pigs" as she says in the book. This book presents only her words as reported by a large variety of sources, many liberal, some by people who had to endure her because they were paid to do so. This book is not the opinion of someone who, for their own political objectives, wants to paint her as something other than what she really is. This is really her, in her own words and actions.

My wife has had occasion to be around Hillary at the Senate and when the cameras are pointed elsewhere, everyone who does not possess a great deal of political power is treated like so much pocket lint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book, May 16, 2006
This review is from: I've Always Been A Yankees Fan: Hillary Clinton in her Own Words (Paperback)
Mr. Kuiper has done a wonderful job collecting Hillary quotes. These are not made up by him. All quotes are attributed to other sources. I've never been a fan of Ms. Clinton, and this just confirms that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read, April 27, 2006
This review is from: I've Always Been A Yankees Fan: Hillary Clinton in her Own Words (Paperback)
This was a great read, although I am sure you could create something similar on any politician.

Some of the quotes are very credible and very disturbing.

Although the author came off a little mean it's still a fun read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The simple non-spin truth about Hillary Clinton, April 24, 2006
This review is from: I've Always Been A Yankees Fan: Hillary Clinton in her Own Words (Paperback)
The author Thomas Kuiper ([...]) has done an exceptional job of collecting Hillary quotes from a large and diverse, credible source pool. This has made the whole project highly believable because he does not present unsubstantiated hearsay but rather Hillary Clinton's own statements on a large variety of subjects and under many different circumstances. You hear and get to know the real Hillary Clinton.
