Soap is a chemical reaction that happens when you mix lye with fat. When you look at labels and it says something like sodium cocoate it means saponified (made into soap using lye) coconut oil. So when you buy soaps, if you want pure soap, you're looking for those sorts of ingredients. Simply Ivory is not a vegan friendly soap because it can have tallow in it. It is a real soap though.
We use it for our laundry soap. Shred bars and mix them with Borax, washing soda and water and cook it until it turns into a gel. It works very well for our laundry and costs less than other laundry detergents and rinses out very clean. The slight amount of scent in this soap doesn't cause my allergies to flare up.
We also use it in rebatching soaps as gifts or if we want a specific type of soap. The price is right, and it works very well for those uses.
I've used Ivory Soap for years and when I got my order delivered I couldn't wait to open up and use the first bar.
This is the same 'clean' feeling I expect from Ivory Bar Soap, I would't change it for any other brand. I got this 40-bar offer because of the growing prevalence of 'liquid' soap. Here in the U.S. I can eventually see bar soap trending into obsolescence so I'm grabbing a good stock of it for future use. I'm subscribing for the once every 6 months just to keep a good supply on hand for storage. The soap is wrapped in the standard Ivory wrap and then plastic wrapped over it. Keep in a dry cool place and all is 'good' for a future usable supply!
This is a must get for those who do not want the film left from all the additive ingredients and chemicals other brands use.
It's sad to see Ivory becoming just another great brand that I loved and recommended to my friends for dozens of years is changed into something else.
I am now looking for another brand that stands for "pure soap".
I also notice that the list of ingredients is much longer than it used to be. Can anyone confirm this.
I'm a simple guy with simple needs. This is a simple soap and it washes my simple body. It simply cleans well and has simply no residue.
The bars are huge and almost too big to hold. They last a long time and you get 40 of them.
Hear, hear, Ivory...hear, hear.
