Incorporate the Old with the New,
By
This review is from: Ivory Tower (Audio CD)
A masterpiece of bringing the old with the new. Vocalist, Grant Arnow, brings a reminiscence of old hair bands similar to Dokken and a hint of something more modern like Chiodos. Aside from the current uprising and flash-flood of hardcore, screamo and transformed metal, these guys have taken a route of something more mellow and even appeasing to "old-timer parents." Their style could be easily unexpected knowing that Atreyu drummer, Brandon Saller, produced the album. Former Reel Big Fish drummer, Justin Ferreira, and once striving Varota bassist, Danny Roddy, and guitarists, Andrew Lara and Brett Anderson, complete the musical roundup of pedal shifting and techish simplistics to create a spectacular debut album and a guaranteed forthcoming of not-so-cliched mainstream radio and televised airplay. Track 6, "Turn Up the Radio," is definitely a recommended crowd anthem.

Without any question one of the most thrilling albums of this or any year. Grant Arnow`s vocals will take you back to Journey and Queensryche and a number of other great 80`s performers. The band as a whole is marvelous, and that`s an understatement. Buy this album now and tell your friends. If these guys make it, we will have been there first. One more time: This is a truly great surprise[think Boston,Pump,Back in Black,Appetite for Destruction].

After watching Takota open for Atreyu back in 2007, I knew I had to have this album. I have attended 70+ concerts since 1998 and had never once seen the opening band carry the crowd as much as Takota did that night. They are truly great performers with great songs!

Takota is a great band, made even stronger by the line up changes since Ivory Tower. This album has a sound that is appealing to all age groups and is a good introduction to their sound. Keep an eye on these guys, they have the sound and the skills to make it big. With Ivory tower you can say you were into Takota in the beginning.
