More About the Author

I could tell you a whole bunch of facts about myself--born here, went to school there, blah blah--but that doesn't seem like much fun. So I've decided to make you guys do some work. If you can figure out these puzzles, you'll know all sorts of interesting things about me. And many of them are true, too.

1. I was born in a year with a 2 in it. Also a 6.
2. I was born in a city in California that begins with an S and has eight letters total.
3. The first time I moved, I couldn't move.
4. My best friend lived next door, had four older brothers and sisters, and a name that rhymes with Gabe. She had thirty-seven plastic horses and one real horse.
5. My first job was in a place with lots of books. My second job was in a place with lots of sugar. My third job was in a different place with lots of books.
6. I went to college in a town with a K in it and I studied a subject that ends in Y.
7. After I was done with college, I got a job. And then another one. And then there was one after that. Don't worry about it.
8. One of the following things is not true: I have been up in a hot air balloon. I have six toes on one of my feet. I can read palms.
9. I have written fifteen books under three different names. See if you can figure out what they are.
10. I have two pets. They are bigger than a bar of soap and smaller than a shoe, and they really like parsley.

Have fun!
Annie Barrows

My granddaughter loves math and reading - not so much. I purchased her first Ivy and Bean book and now she loves to read. I read the first to her and we laughed and talked together about the story. Great books! She now has several and since we live miles apart, we can still bond over these books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back to Five Stars September 24, 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
My six-year-old and I now await each new Ivy and Bean with great anticipation. We started reading them together about a year ago and, as these things tend to go, we worked our way through them pretty quickly. While we've yet to find a stinker in the series, we had noticed the last couple were not quite a crisp somehow - the dialog and situations seemed a little forced. I am happy to report that Make the Rules is a solid return to form as I&B decide to open thier own summer day camp.

Smart, funny, silly, at times bordering on the absurd (in a good way), Make the Rules is just flat-out fun. The kid and I were both laughing out loud. It is a pleasure to spend time in the company of these two characters.

If you are new to I&B, I would still recommend you start at the beginning, but for those who are familiar already - yes, you want this one, too. The girls are in good form.

A Kid's Review

This book was amazingly AWESOME! It was so cool that they made their very own camp flaming arrow, and it was also cool that they could go every where they wanted in monkey park. I highly recommend it!
