A little known Gem, March 12, 2003
By A Customer
Fans of Christopher Plummer will not want to miss this movie, as he has a dual role: the rather arrogant and ascerbic Fitzroy Winn and his "alter-ego", Roberto Terranova. Fitz, an actor and Lily, a playwright have a long and now troubled marriage. Fitz's dream is to make it really big in a film and when he finds a new script that Lily has written, he sees his chance. However, Lily is having none of it! She wants a different actor for the part. So Fitz, unbeknownst to Lily, becomes Roberto Terranova and gets the role. But what will happen to their marriage when it turns out that Lily is very attracted to Roberto?! This is a little bit of a departure for Christopher Plummer, but a very enjoyable one, as he gets to try some comedy. And, as always, he is excellent! Maggie Smith is terrific as the tired and underappreciated Lily. I would recommend this for more mature audiences, only because the characters are older, although I first saw it in my 20's and loved it! A great little comedy to brighten an evening!

On Demand made a bad copy, November 24, 2009
I saw the original movie "Lily in Love" and thought it was wonderful.
So I bought the "on demand" DVD version of "Lily in Love" when I saw it on Amazon hoping to enjoy the movie again. I was quite dissatisfied and returned the item.
The reasons were:
1. Several scenes were too dark to see well
2. It was hard to hear in some places
3. The speed of some frames either temporarily halted or sped up.
4. It didn't have all the scenes of the movie (it was like it was an "edited for content" TV version).
5. The DVD cover sleeve also had grammer errors which led me to believe it was a "home created" movie.
I still love the original full-length movie. Sadly, this product was not it.

A Rarely Seen Film, December 7, 2011
Lily in Love is one of Maggie Smith's most enchanting films, but it has almost disappeared. Happily DVD technology has brought it back to us.
