5.0 out of 5 stars Sorry, Billy Mays - THIS is the original "Mighty Putty"
Like 45 billion other people, I saw the Mighty Putty commercial on TV and thought it sounded great. My husband sighed and said, that's been around forever, and a lot cheaper, too.

So I looked around and lo and behold, J-B Weld IS "Mighty Putty," minus the horrific shipping and 'processing' fee.

I bought this at a local hardware store to test it out...

I bought this at a local hardware store to test it out (around $3 if you can get find it; my husband suggest an auto parts store.) It does work like the commercial says. I wanted to put up a towel rack in a guest bathroom without drilling through the tile.

Well, it worked. Set up in a few minutes. Next day you could hang Billy Mays from it, and I don't think it'd break.

I'd highly recommend the J-B brand, unless you've got a lotta spare cash and you want to make sure Billy Mays retires in style!

5.0 out of 5 stars JB Stix Weld putty, January 12, 2008
This review is from: J-B Weld 8267-S STIK (Misc.)
Great product, so simple to use. Harder than bondo and wont crack. So much easier than waiting forever for things to cure. This cures quick, with still plenty of time to work with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where has this stuff been my whole life!???!!!!!!!!!!!, December 13, 2009

Let me start by saying...I LOVE THIS STUFF!! I mean it! It is my favorite purchase in a long, long, long time!

What it is: it is putty stuff shaped like a tootsie roll...or a cow tale (if you are familar with that candy!) In the center of the cylindrical putty, is another darker colored compound. You cut off a slice the size you want and knead it in your fingers until it is all the same color. Then you use it to fill holes, fix cracks, stick stuff together (yes it is adhesive, too) etc.

I had it one day and I fixed an old drilled hole in ceramic tile, a hole in a concrete wall, a piece of molding on my garage door, a wheel on a footstool, and a chip on a lamp. I am glad I bought 3 tubes! It is like sticky poster putty, but it dries hard (doesn't shrink) and permanently. Ready for sanding or painting. I admit I have even used White Out and nail polish (on the red lamp) to paint over it! Those little bottles of appliance paint are nice for tiles, too because they are shiny.

It really sticks to every surface I have tried. And you can shape it, not like drippy glue. I like that it not only sticks stuff together, but fills too, so if you are missing a little piece of something broken, you can form another one or fill in the space! I am even contemplating using it to make a little missing finial on an antique clock.

It does dry dark dark gray (almost black), so you have to paint it to match. I wish it came in a white color. But it dries HARD...like cement....not crumbly like joint compound, though. You have to work somewhat quickly, so if you mixed too much and look around for other projects while it is in your hand, it starts to get hard in about 10 minutes.

I just love this stuff and find myself looking for it often. Really does work like it says! You will find many uses for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome product!, November 25, 2008

The screw piece that was on the top of the harp that holds a heavy stained glass lampshade broke off the day before yesterday. I looked locally for a replacement but could not find one (New Hampshire and not where there are lots of stores). I went to the local hardware store today and they did not have one to fit either. I told the man what it was for and that I would have to find someone to solder it or buy a tool to do it myself. He looked at the two pieces and sold me the last tube of this stuff in the store. Two hours later it was together and an hour and a half later was rock hard. The lamp is back together and there is no sign of weakness to it. This stuff is great!

This works GREAT and is so much cheaper than Mighty Putty that I originally logged on to purchase. Thanks, Amazon.com for the suggestion!!! I used this to fix a drain stopper in my kitchen sink. It was very easy to use and has held up for a month now even after being wet most of the time. I have recommended it to all my friends.

i will make it quick, as i usualy do for simple things.
i found it better than other types of epoxy glues that come in two separate tubes. these are very liquidy, and are hard to work with.
the mixing isnt fun.
this type is easier to mix, you can choose the amount you need with better accuracy, easy to apply and is very very strong.

one word of advice - make sure the surfaces are clean and dry before applying for best results.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked for me, February 19, 2009
This review is from: J-B Weld 8267-S STIK (Misc.)
I was looking for a product to fix a knob that had been previously screwed into my desk. It unscrewed itself as we used it, but the geniuses that designed the desk installed a drawer organizer(seems to be glued in) just behind the front panel of the drawer so i wasn't able to get to the screw that held the knob in.

this product was really easy to use and it's still working after 1 month.

only downside is that it's not as clean looking as it was before, there's a small amount of the adhesive around the base of the knob, but it's barely noticeable. I'm just glad i have a knob on the drawer face!

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY NICE - FIXED MY SPA, July 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: J-B Weld 8267-S STIK (Misc.)
I used this to seal a leak in my SPA. It is actually under pressure and held great. Set time is only about 4 minutes so you have to be quick. It saved me a lot of work and a lot of money. The leak was right at the jet body so I would have had to replace a lot of pipe and the Jet body. Instead, I just sanded the pvc down a little to scuff the surface, mixed the two part putty, rolled it into a snake shape, pushed it into the seam where the leak was and let it dry. When I tested it 24 hours later, I was leak free. It has now been holding for about three months. Highly recommended.

I have used JB Weld for many years in its two part liquid form with excellent results. The paste worked great as well! Easy to mix, save what you don't use.
