Don't Expect Too Much,

This review is from: J.E. Allton SD1020 Touch-Free 9.5-Ounce Automatic Liquid-Soap Dispenser (Kitchen)
I originally bought five (5) of the chrome look models (now discontinued) from JE Allton about one year ago. Within 1 month, I returned two that were defective - one didn't work at all and the other started to leak soap into the bottom battery compartment and began to rust. I replaced one of them, for a total of four in our home. In the next two months, the motor of another one started to run continuously without reason. I contacted the manufacturer for a replacement because it was within the one year warranty, but beyond the store 30-day return policy. The company representative said they would send out this white model (new at the time). Months later, still having not received the replacement, I contacted the company again, only to find out that the representative left the company, but no one else from the company bothered to follow up regarding its defective product. The company would not replace the dispenser since it was past the one year warranty...even though they were the ones who let the time run out. I am down to three dispensers and will gladly replace them with another brand as soon as they break. I would be more upset with this product and lack of customer service, but I originally purchased the items at a discount store. So, I just think of the dispensers as disposable - too bad.

I bought two different touch-free liquid soap dispensers from Amazon in September 2008, the Simplehuman and the Allton SD1020. I used the Simplehuman for a month and then used the Allton the following month (with regular Softsoap brand liquid hand soap I bought from Costco). It gets used about 10 times a day.The Allton works better and it cost 25% less. The Simplehuman does not give enough soap, and it has to be primed before each use. There is a little button on the top which activates the pump and will prime the unit, but that is hardly touch-free. When using it normally (with the touch-free IR sensor), it gives about a pea size amount of soap. I find myself needing to use it 3 times to get enough soap. (It is set at the highest setting) The Allton has never needed re-priming (after the first time used), and always gives a perfect amount of soap.

This dispenser works great! I normally do not write reviews, but had to let everyone know that it's well worth the money. I purchased 2 more to give as birthday gifts and now I'm purchasing a few more for Christmas gifts!I haven't had any problems with the type of liquid soap I use and it squirts out the perfect amount every time. It's great!

Buyer Beware! Defective and J.E. Allton Won't Replace!,
This review is from: J.E. Allton SD1020 Touch-Free 9.5-Ounce Automatic Liquid-Soap Dispenser (Kitchen)
After 6 months, soap leaked into the battery compartment and began dispensing soap spontaneously (lots of wasted soap). Several other consumers have posted the same problem on other retails sites. I called J.E. Allton, the manufacturer, to request a replacement. The J.E. Allton customer service rep said they were aware of the defect, but they provide only a 60 day warranty-so basically, they don't stand behind their product. Bottom line-don't waste your money (or your soap) on this product.

I had a gift, model SD1018. After six months it started spontaneously dumping out the contents. No way to get it to stop, wasted soap and batteries. Called the company 626-965-7556 and they rufused any type of helpful suggestion. Going to the landfill. Waste of soap and batteries, and would not recommend any products from this company. Very dissatisfied! Give your business to a proven company.

I purchased 2 of these .. one for my home and one for a gift.. Ha.. stay away from this one. The first one, with fresh batteries, lasted about 3 days.. It simply quit.. checked the batteries.. perfect.. Nothing.. Tried the second.. same exact results.. terrible.. Adios .. jokes on me..

This soap dispenser worked great for about a week. Then just stopped working. We refilled it, cleaned it and it started working again. We put it in our guest bathroom and discovered every time we turned the light on, it would dispense soap. Then it would just start dispensing soap constantly. Had to throw it out!

Item appeared to have been previously opened. Did not work even after several different batteries and consistancies in liquid soap, returned item. Return was easy and processed quickly.

After about 4 months it just started to get stingy with the soap. Tried cleaning the works out by emptying & filling with water to sort of flush. No improvement. Purchased a manual hand pump & that didn't work either. Still looking!!
