The picture tells it all! The "Banana Cutter" canNOT begin to compare to the majestically designed "Hutzler". It's just a cheezy imitation at best! And look how sad and pathetic it makes that poor banana feel...RUN, don't walk, on over to the superior Hutzler and read the reviews to learn all anyone would ever need to know about what a REAL banana cutter should be!

Some people describe their lives in many chapters consisting of events such as marriage, death of a loved one, coming out of a relationship, starting a new job, etc, etc.

Mine has two.

1) Pre Banana Slicer
2) Post Banana Slicer

Before I discovered the life changing power of this miraculous banana slicer, I wandered from job to job, never keeping one for more than few weeks. I lived in my parents basement huddled in front of my Mac playing World of Warcraft for 16 hour stretches. Sure, I'd take small breaks now and then. Just long enough to burn another bowl, watch a few Jenna Jameson clips and scarf down some Cheetos. Then it was back to Azeroth. I'd never had a girlfriend, shocking as that may be.

Then one Saturday evening, my one and only friend talked me into going to a house of ill repute. The madam took one look at me, winced and scurried into the back room. She emerged a few minutes later flanked by a 300 pound midget with leprosy. The madam informed me this was the only woman available and I'd have to pay double. Thinking this is my one and only chance, I plunked down the cash and headed towards the back room only to be robbed at knife point by the midget who took my last 10 dollars.

Feeling dejected, I walked home, smoked my last bowl and logged on to Facebook.

And there it was. Like a sign from God beaming off my screen. An advertisement for the banana cutter. I knew right then and there this magnificent work of art was the answer to all my problems. I ordered one immediately with overnight shipping. By the next evening I was cutting bananas with the skill of Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon. I was a Ginsu Jackie Chan on steroids! My family was amazed, my friend awed. Soon I had more friends!

I feel sorry for the banana, upon looking at this product's picture. How dare the makers of this product make the cutter so much larger than the fruit. The size that God made them is natural and will get the job done just fine...why does the industry always want more?

I have found, through all of my fruitalicious culinary voyages, that this banana slicer is exemplary! It is by far superior to other 'Posh' quality slicers I have found in my expeditions.

I have been to every country in the world searching for the perfect banana slicer, and i manged to find this slicer in the deepest corner of the frozen hell of Antarctica, (the island called Roosevelt. unfortunately, all my heaters froze, and i was left by my expedition team in the snow to die. trying to survive, i dug myself a snow cave. while i was digging, i saw a flash of yellow. i picked it up and all the snow around me melted, leaving a glowing banana slicer. i carefully took it home, and this simply unsurpassed. Some have said it is `below slicer standards', but I can assure you, it is the preeminent slicer on the market, and in the WORLD!! it also saved my life.

Ferrari Testarossa...Louisville Slugger...a Brooks Brothers suit. Some things are just synonymous with quality, style, power, and grace. Yes, the legendary Hutzler 571B is one such giant in the banana cutting world. Just like Porsche, "accept no substitutes." Alas, another model has come out, no doubt looking to take down the champ. Is this worthy? We shall see...

What can we say about this latest banana cutter? Well, this isn't the 571B, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have value. While the slicing edges are nowhere near the sharpness of the Fox Chase-and let's face it, who could be with its samurai sword cutting strength-it's not even close to the Hutzler. The Fox Chase has been utilized in self defense applications, so much so that the US Department of Defense now issues them as the standard bayonet on their assault rifles. The Hutzler has found the sweet spot in its sharpness and is the perfect banana cutting machine. It, unlike its banana cutting brethren, can also cut bananas angled left or right. Yes, it's an excellent tool no matter which way your banana angle dangles.

This thing? Edges are too dull, but it's perfectly spaced for measurements. We've used ours in place of a measuring tape for odd jobs around the house. Picture frames, mirrors, and other odd jobs have become easier. We've also rigged ours with a stud finder. Our teenage son and his friends have had "banana measuring contests" with it. Yes, the spacing is that exact. Who's the "big banana" now? You'll know in an instant.

In closing, nothing can replace the rock star status of the 571B. Parting gifts on your left, impostor.

I had purchased the Hutzler 571 due to its rave reviews, so I just didn't understand why my party guests were so unimpressed with my banana. I presented a tray of perfectly squared, uniform thickness slices, what I thought was Artistic Perfection. Upon their seeing it, an angry chant began to build, "Bourgeous banana! Bourgeous banana!!" I was mortified!

Suddenly I was yanked backwards into my kitchen. I thought this is it, the end of me, thanks for nothing 571. A tall stranger in I swear to God a yellow cloak - a fancy velour one I'll never forget - said "quick, use this" and shoved something into my hands. It was... the Banana Cutter! A bit big I thought, compensating for something? But quickly, thanks to my 571 training I'll give 'em that, I put the Banana Cutter to work and whipped out a new trayful of sliced bananas, mysteriously more luscious and compelling in appearance.

With some trepidation I returned to the parlor, quickly kicking aside the tray of 571 slices someone had set on fire. The joy I felt as my guests put down the chairs and fireplace utensils they were waving was nothing compared to the feeling of pride that swept over me (along with the fire, which had now jumped to the drapes. But that didn't matter!) as my guests, nay worshippers! cooed and awed at my uniformly thick, but now PARALLELOGRAM banana slices. Everyone knows, whether it's bananas or carrots or spaghetti, parallel acute cornered edges are the mark of a true culinary artiste!

I would have given my life for such a perfect ending to my party but fortunately didn't have to, thanks to the sophisticated, mostly parallel blade design of the Banana Cutter.
