As an Accountant (though not a Tax Accountant) I have always preferred to do my own taxes - but I always felt as though I was missing some "hidden secrets" when it came to optimizing your deductions and potential refund. I had no idea just how much I was missing until I purchased J.K. Lasser's book! It is so well-written and replete with useful information that for the first time, I can hardly wait to do my taxes this year.

I recommend this book to anyone, whether you do your own taxes or have someone do them for you, simply to ensure that you are getting as much of your taxes back as you are entitled to. After all, it's your money, isn't it?

It's big book, that's extremely well indexed, that includes information about recent court rulings - - not just the one sided view that IRS publications provide.

JK Lasser's Income Tax Books are very good. Very comprehensive. This is a great book for eggheads like me, and people who like researching and investigating their subject. Read this book... you'll know something! It will also improve reading skills. Anyone can get whatever information they are looking for regarding personal and business tax returns. However, I don't recommend this to the casual user. This is a book for the professionals because it is so comprehensive. It may overwhelm the casual reader. However if you are anything like I've described above---researching, investigative mind with a need to know---then this is the book for you! I've bought these books yearly for my personal library as a tax professional and I use them in my business.

I'm an experienced tax preparer who personally prepares hundreds of tax returns a year and I can assure you that this is hands down the best tax book in the business. With all of the resources I have at my disposal this is the first book I go to when I have a question or need to verify a fact. JK lasser is the best resource for individuals and professionals.

This is an excellent acquisition for anyone seeking
to gain even a rudimentary knowledge of the individual
tax code. The book is written simply with many easy-to-read
illustrations, sample forms and pointers to specific
lines of the various forms; such as the 4797, 438 EIC
(earned income credit) and many more.

Finite points like the 438 EIC are explained for taxpayers
with no qualifying children with earned income under the
$12,880 limit, living in the USA , not being claimed as a
dependent and between 25-65 years of age. Do you see why you
need this book ?

I've used the yearly version of this book for many years. It's great to have when tax time comes near. It's sort of automatic that I will buy the current edition in January.

I purchase this book annually and it is also a great guide for those who teach tax courses. Easy to follow and understand!

J. K. Lasser's 09 Tax guide is just the lastest edition of this practical, comprehensive indivifual Federal Tax preparation reference work. Rarely will you find a question not covered here, Highly recommended if you do your own taxes or just work with your CPA.
