I finished the Mercedes Racer yesterday and the Stutz Racer two years ago. Both are fun and very rewarding to do provided you don't mind a lot of painting. If you don't like to paint, then these models are not for you. All parts are white plastic except for the clear windshild (Mercedes only), so I painted all 41 parts of the Mercedes. I spray-painted nearly half the parts, however, since at least half a dozen of them are too large to brush paint nicely. Painting the wheels correctly is a bit tedious and requires a steady hand and keen vision. This is true of the dials on the dashboard also. I used only silver paint for them and it looked very nice.

Assembly is quite straight-forward with large drawings clearly showing what to do and the paint coding is clear as well for all the parts. I found the gas tank to be too tight a fit without shaving some plastic from the base to effectively narrow it enough to fit.

Both of these racers are beautiful models if done right. The key is in the painting, and well worth the effort in my opinion. Both of these racers are 1 to 16 scale, which makes for a gorgeous effect and an easier experience for hand-eye coordination. These are the only two cars I've seen at this scale, and it's too bad more cars aren't done at this size.

These two models are terrific. Modellers seem to complain about all white plastic parts, but it's worth the effort to do all required as the reward is great!
