Kings of Leon, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and Louis XIV have been my only hopes in the new millennium. This album is better than anything that I have heard in the past 3 years.

From the Baltimore City Paper: "J. Roddy Walston and the Business is what would happen if Queen and Black Oak Arkansas birthed four boys in the backwoods and let them listen to nothing but Cheap Trick and showtunes".
The only thing better than this record is seeing the band live!

This album is great! J Roddy and The Business are unlike any other band out right now. If you love rock & roll, you MUST buy this album. My favorite tracks off the album: Full Growing Man, Don't Break the Needle, and Don't Wanna Hear It.

Incredible album all the way through, but Side A is my favorite side of any album I own. This may be an unpopular opinion among the rest of his fans, but this record tops Essential Tremors to me, no doubt about it. As good and as fun as Essential Tremors is, the songwriting on this album is second-to-none. The way Walston hollers and groans his simple yet heavy lyrics combined with thrashing riffs, loud drums, and the pounding on a piano's keys will have you smiling ear-to-ear as your face melts right off.

P.s. This band is a must see if you get the chance. My friend dragged me 150 miles to see them and I would've gone again the next day.

This album sounds like a raucous night on the town. Probably at the local dive down the street listening to one of the best bar bands you've ever heard. Plenty of upbeat fare and memorable moments here. While the bar band component is major element of their sound, overdriven guitars and rootsy piano lines hint at a kind of reved up Americana. Maybe what early KOL would have sounded like if they never took themselves so seriously. Solid album, every song has its own charming qualities. Few, if any, dead spots here. J. Roddy and the Biz definitely get the joint jumping.

J Roddy channels some good ol rock n roll on this release. The obvious comparison is early Kings of Leon. Not that the comparison is without merit, because it is, but the two are undoubtedly different. Whereas KOL was more pop punk with pervy lyrics J Roddy tends to have more of a classic rock sound, incorporating a piano early and often in songs that go beyond 3 minutes. If you like fun, foot tapping, southern-tinged rock n roll that might as well have been recorded in a dive bar then J Roddy's the band for you.

When your 57 year old father says this is some good stuff, you know you found some great music.

This is true Rock N' Roll. Not that awful heavy metal or cheesy boy-band junk. I was always a KOL fan (and still am) but this is quickly becoming my favorite band. Shout out to the Rockin' Eagle in the Copper Country. Heard 'Heavy Bells' on my way to the ski hill and instantly fell in love with it. Thanks for still being a true radio station!

Recommendation: Buy every album.
