Recorded for 33.3 LP in 1964, this is the original 1987 compact disc issue.
These recordings were made at a time when GG had been tinkering with his beloved 1943 New York-Steinway Model D--(CD318)--to achieve the tactile felicity he sought by removing the felt bushings in the hammer mechanisms, which resulted in an even looser `hair-trigger' keyboard action for him.
(And of course he removed the fallboard as well to give him more room on the keyboard.)
It also resulted in a certain small skeletal ticking or clicking `hiccups' of the disjointed key mechanisms--this on top of GG's unwarranted vocalizations [!].
Perhaps these things may distract or annoy some listeners; this listener loves it all as part and parcel of the same package.

Gould's way with the `Two- and Three-Part Inventions' (1723) has never been surpassed: he takes more joy and effects more clarity, enacting more precision and polish, than anyone else has ever done with these multifaceted little gems, in order to parallel Bach's own achievement of which Geiringer writes, `No other composer had hitherto imbued clavier works of such small dimensions with a content of such significance' wherein `New artistic vistas seem to be revealed in each succeeding piece'.

The 2- & 3-Ps are characterized by voice-exchange sequences with thematic inversion, fugue, and canon.

Extraordinary on this recording are the effects achieved by GG in his interpolation of the Inventions and Sinfonias as pairs of the same key (rather than playing them as separate sets), thusly rendering the overall aspect as a `mini-Well-Tempered Clavier'.
