5.0 out of 5 stars Saved me a fortune over iTunes
I was looking at 99 cents a song on iTunes when I ran across this piece of software. I can't tell you how much money I've saved collecting my favorite 80s songs using this product. This ia a must for anyone with an MP3 player (or iPod) looking to get as much music as they can possibly handle without having to fool with any of those hit or miss peer to peer places like...

The testimonials scattered around the internet encouraged me to buy this product. After experiencing the product and having an unsatisfying interchange with their customer service, I am fairly sure that most of the testimonials are plants.

Some recommendations:

1) The product only works with ShoutCast. To see if these are the stations you would like to record, first go to the shoutcast web site.
2) Before purchasing, it is highly recommended that you download the free trial from the audioxtract web site to see if the product will work for you.
3) Do read through the FAQs on the same web site.
4) Know that you will need DSL or cable to use the product as it is advertised.
5) Also know that if you are as dis-satisfied as I am, you will be able to experience the wonderful efficiency with which Amazon.com handles returns.

3.0 out of 5 stars Songs blend together and files are truncated, February 26, 2005

The Audio Xtract program does exactly what it says it does, but there is a fundamental problem that everyone should be aware of. First, just like on commercial over-the-air radio, the music streams available usually 'blend' together such that one song fades out while the next fades in. This means that your recorded files will seldom have a clean start and beginning. Sometimes, there is even DJ banter that gets captured. The next problem is that the algorithm used to calculate when one song ends and the next starts appears to be imprecise. I've recorded songs that were off by as much as 10 seconds from where they should have started (and ended up having to combine them with adjacent files and re-split them manually). If you're looking for a good way to get radio-ized music, there is no better software than this. However, if you want clean songs with intact lead-ins and endings, you will seldom get that with this product. Sorry!

After forking over 50 for this garbage, installing and then not using for a while, I was prompted for an ID and pass code. WTF?! I did not spend my cash so I could monkey around with this, especially after tossing everything else..Ahhh, the utter nerve and greed of these companies.

This ia a must for anyone with an MP3 player (or iPod) looking to get as much music as they can possibly handle without having to fool with any of those hit or miss peer to peer places like Kazaa or iMesh. I can download 8 streams at once and I've filled, moved and burned more than my hard drive can hold many times over.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy it!, January 11, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Audio Xtract Pro (CD-ROM)
The company that developed this product is out of business. What you are going to receive is some leftover junk that requires a "patch" to operate. The product doesn't do nearly the job advertised. The "Pro" version is no different than the standard version and neither will record audio streams from sources such as Rhapsody.I have no problem with the seller. He didn't know.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Support, October 7, 2008
This review is from: Audio Xtract Pro (CD-ROM)
I have used Audio Extract Pro for several years and found it to be for the most part useful, but recently have had some problems with the manual record function. I have been attempting to contact their tech support for two weeks now and have been completely ignored. Not even an acknowledgment let alone a solution to my problem. I purchased what I thought was a DVD of the new version which finally arrived after several weeks and found that it was a nonfunctional with Vista old version.

If you use this you are on your own. Tech support is just place holder on their website.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding program, September 23, 2004
This review is from: Audio Xtract Pro (CD-ROM)
I love Audio Xtract Pro! Finally I can listen to music that I haven't heard in years on the radio simply by searching the music genre that I would like to hear at that particular time, and then streaming the audio. I love that you can save the songs you wish to, all the while having the capabilites of burning it to a CD within the same program.

2.0 out of 5 stars iTunes, Launch and More, November 16, 2004
This review is from: Audio Xtract Pro (CD-ROM)
I own this app and it's awesome! I literally filled an MP3 player in one afternoon with new MP3s using Audio Xtract on my PC. I recorded 6 streams at 128kbs and it was amazing! Then I moved it all to my player, no problem there either.

The exciting part is that I just got an email from their support that a new pro version is coming for the holidays that records literally anything, including iTunes and all the internet radio streams out there. They said updates are free, so no need to wait I guess to get free music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kiss Kazaa Goodbye, October 10, 2004
This review is from: Audio Xtract Pro (CD-ROM)
With the RIAA filing lawsuits against students every week by the hundreds, this is absolutely the best way to get free MP3s because there's no legal worries. There are other internet radio recording options out there, but none come even close to Audio Xtract.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes - it really works, December 4, 2004
This review is from: Audio Xtract Pro (CD-ROM)
See my review for Audio Xtract - this PRO is even better. This is the solution I've been looking for. After buying iTunes, using Kazaa (and all the problems with that), I can't believe how easy and cheap this deal is. Can't stress how much I recommend it.
