Product Description

Flavor: Cinnamon Mint | Size: 6 Ounce (Pack of 3)

In 1959, a group of independent thinkers drew upon the pioneering spirit that was so much a part of their California heritage and set out on a road of rediscovery. Theirs was a path back to natural ingredients proven safer and proven to work together in naturally effective ways. And so the JĀSÖN (which means "healer" in Greek) brand was born. The JĀSÖN team meticulously created body loving products - at first just for their own family and friends - staying true to the JĀSÖN Code of Honor: select safe, wholesome, natural ingredients, rigorously test every formula to ensure safety and efficacy, never test on animals, and constantly innovate and improve. As one generation has given way to the next, JĀSÖN products have remained on the path forged by the brand’s founders, committed to discovering even more ways to offer personal care solutions safer for us, our families and our planet. JĀSÖN is a natural pioneer since 1959.

Everyone has their favorite product or food that they never want to change. I first bought this toothpaste in the summer of 2011 and it appears in the last 3-5 months range, that this toothpaste has changed formula for the worst in my opinion. Always be weary if you see a new package design of an old favorite, as is the case with this Jason Nutrismile toothpaste, which use to be one my all time favorites. The old formula (with orange on box) was similar to the color and consistency of apricot scrub and very concentrated. This new formula is a paste, with the KEY quality ingredients missing (ESTER-C) or greatly reduced in quantity. With the old formula you could feel the Ester vitamin C when it hit your gums, and it foamed up nicely with excellent cleaning results. What really chaps my hide is that JASON advertised on the new style box " NEW LOOK SAME GREAT FORMULA" so I guess they assume their regular customers are idiots and won't notice the difference. Multiple products by JASON have altered their ingredients, changing the packaging design with the wink, wink, " NEW LOOK SAME GREAT FORMULA" line. It appears to me to be a cost cutting mission. Adios JASON, as I will not buy their products again. 5 STARS RATING FOR THE OLD FORMULA 1 STAR FOR THIS NEW WATERED DOWN FORMULA. The proof is in the pudding. Notice the elimination or reduction of quality ingredients (Ester-C) with every formula update below.Read more ›

I seriously can't believe I'm about to write this much about toothpaste. However, if it can even help one other person end their pain, then it's worth it.

I alternate between this flavor and the Sea Fresh Jason's toothpaste exclusively. I used to get *incredibly* painful canker sores in my mouth that would last for weeks. I've always had them on and off, but they started to get much worse as I got older. I would get them every month or so like clockwork, regardless of stress level, work load, sleep schedule, etc. The sores would swap between the inside of my left and right cheeks or near the gum line. I honestly thought I might have contracted some sort of STD until a friend suggested I could be allergic to the chemicals in my toothpaste.

I was skeptical at first, but decided to do a bit of research online. I figured I had nothing to lose but the pain. I started looking up the chemicals in the toothpaste I normally buy from CVS. (Colgate, Crest, whatever is on sale at the time.) I'm still not sold on the harmful effects of certain ingredients (like Flouride).

However, one chemical that kept coming up was Sodium Lauryl Sulphate. Apparently, it's used in a variety of products including shampoo, soaps, and of course toothpaste. It's even used in construction and manufacturing (Although, they're likely employing the industrial variant of the chemical . . . I hope.)

From what I've gathered, it acts as a universal foaming agent. In shampoo and soaps, it produces lather. In toothpaste, along with various mint/flavoring compounds, it produces that tingly foam that makes you think your mouth is extra clean. What it's actually doing is drying out the membrane on the inside of your mouth.

I enjoy this toothpaste very much. It is different from Crest and Colgate which I've lived most my life off.
So I bought this at our local health food store, and it was 7.50 which is quite a bit more than often times 1.50 plain jane Colgate, or 4.00 Crest pro health. But I also think it's very much worth it. I wanted to get away from Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and thought oh I'll go to Toms of Maine naturals. Well the one I bought I found out although flourdie free, it has SLS. Anyways lets go into the specs from 1 worst 5 best.
Taste - Taste is actually more Vanilla than mint, although mint is present. The first few times you use this you'll notice it's a little bit strange tasting. Not bad, just different from your regular toothpaste. 4/5

Color - It's not white like mainstream toothpaste. It's a very light brown. 4/5

Lather - Is Amazing. You really only need a little bit. You only need to cover half, or even less of your toothbrush to get a great lather. The lather definitely does last, and you don't end up spitting out big globs like a lot of toothpaste ( AIM, Colgate ) 5/5

Value - It's a little high, but not to bad especially since you only need a little 5/5

Bottle design - The bottle is green and white with a yellow sunflower on it. it's not as flashy as some bottles, but it looks pleasant. 5/5

Great product though. i recomend it.

PRO: One of the VERY FEW products on the market sodium lauryl sulphate free. For example, Toms of Maine HAS SLS, although they claim they get it from coconut oil (gee, thanks). The boys in the family are super susceptible to canker sores(don't know why the girls aren't affected). Did a little research and SLS is a common problem/cause. Now we are down to 2-6 a sores year that you don't notice, versus constant mouth fulls that make it difficult to eat. Thank GOD.

CON: My teeth have become a lot more sensitive in the last 2 years. Could be age, or could be lack of floride in this product according to my dentist. Have begun using a floride paste in the evening on occasion to try to balance things out.
