A novel of two boarding-school boys,

It is not quite clear which book is being offered here, the novel itself or a dissertation on it. Edward A. W. Clarke's "Jasper Tristram" (1899) is a novel about a student whose crush on another male student is transferred to the latter's sister. This seems to be the only book written by this author.
