The light makes the tank look very nice.

Pershnickity aquarists will find it worth the time and money changing out the filter and/or light for something better, because the aquarium itself is true quality.

The bowed front with one single piece of glass allows an amazing view.

I'm into nano-reef aquariums. This is a great tank to get started! It's a popular tank for the hobby and there is lots of info is out there specifically for it. Looks nice and clean on a desk. Though, as with any tank, you will need to add a few parts. I added a modified AquaClear70, a MiniJet404 powerhead, and a Current Satellite 18W light, and a Hydor 25W heater. I strongly recommend this aquarium for anyone wanting to cultivate beautiful corals, but not interested in fish. You can really only do one small SW fish with this tank (I'm not planning to). Though there is plenty of room for a few other invertebrates.

I had my eye on this little aquarium for a while, and am happy I got it. The filter provided is very flimsy, but it is quiet and provides a very gentle flow, which is great if you're keeping fish who dislike a strong current, particularly in such a small space. The media inside the filter is quality, and there is a modest amount of flow adjustment allowed on the intake valve. The size of the tank is perfect for fry or other tiny fish or invertebrates. On first blush it seems like a great tank for a betta, but this is an open-top tank and bettas are known jumpers.

The real value in this set, though, is not the filter or the light (which is perfectly adequate), but the aquarium itself -- The glass is very solid, heavy, and exceptionally clear. The bottom is beveled for beauty and stability. The buying price is worth it just for the tank itself. Pershnickity aquarists will find it worth the time and money changing out the filter and/or light for something better, because the aquarium itself is true quality.

First off, I have to agree with the previous poster. The end of the filter nozzle can slip off easily and can literally siphon small fish into the filter. I would recommend possibly using a rubber band or some way to make them stay attached more sturdily, or possibly some aquarium safe silicone.

With that being said I also had a problem with one of the filters. I purchased four of these tanks for my bettas and one of the filters has a slow leak in the back. It is so slow I didn't realize it until the next day after having set these tanks up. It has caused water damage to my furniture. I specifically purchased a new book shelf to house these tanks and the shelf hasn't even been in my home for 72 hours and it now has water damage. I can accept this since it is toward the back up against the wall but here's the thing.....

I called JBJ Lighting and left a message which they did NOT return. I called them again and they wanted me to jump through all these hoops in order to show proof of my purchase. I spent over $160 on their products. I feel they should help me out a bit without me having to do so much work.

In any event, I called Doctors Foster and Smith (the vendor from which I purchased my tanks) and they are doing the work for me and have assured me they will take care of the filter replacement. I'm relieved and grateful and I highly recommend Doctors Foster and Smith. I have done business with them in the past and they have always taken good care of me.

I'm only giving the company JBJ Lighting 2 stars (because of how they handled me)but the tank itself with no problems would be worthy of at least 4 stars. My bettas seem quite happy in their new homes. The other disadvantage is they only have a 6 month warranty on these tanks.

So nice that I bought two! Very clear glass. Beautifully designed. I love not having any framework blocking the view. The bowed front with one single piece of glass allows an amazing view. I bought one and after seeing how nice it was I bought a second. The second one I received was put together a little crooked so I contacted the seller and they sent a replacement right out. Excellent customer service. It doesn't come with a cover so I had to cut a piece of glass to fit. I traced the bottom of the tank and cut out the shape then ground the edges smooth. I also ground out spaces for the filter. Works great! You would probably need to have this done at a glass shop if you don't have glass cutters and a glass grinder.

This tank is amazing. It's very well built, and comes with a quality light. With a good hang on back filter, this tank would make the perfect addition to any desk.

I got this aquarium for $45, and felt it was a great deal. That said, for $75, I don't know if I'd be so happy. It's a very attractive aquarium. The light works well for medium/low light plants. Well worth the price I paid. The filter is on the strong side for a planted shrimp tank. And this light does have that blue/purple tint you associate with coral aquariums. At around $75, you have more options. I don't know if I would have bought this aquarium if it had cost that much.

This tank is fantastic. If you love the nanocube style, but want something smaller, than this is the tank you should get. The tank itself is very premium, the light is really nice for that tiny of a size (fully adjustable with telescopic arms), and the three-stage filter is seemingly great for a freebie. The base is classy looking as well, with thick beveled glass. I'll let everything cure, and add to this review, but so far I feel like this should be at least a $150 kit as far as the quality and appearance of it.

The silicone seams are really good... Only a few spots where they got carried away, but similar to what you'd find on any other great tank honestly.

So if you're wanting a "bonsai" reef tank >5 gallons, this seems like the way to go for any price range. I planned on spending up to $200 for a pico tank, and this one didn't fall short of what I was wanting.

I was concerned about ordering a glass tank online, but it arrived safely (it was encased in foam blocks). I'll update this review after everything cycles.
