HAPPY CUSTOMER WITH RESERVATIONS,
This review is from: JBL On Beat Loudspeaker Dock for iPad, iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I was looking forward to this loudspeaker device and I'm happy with it even if I cannot use it as originally intended. I use my iPad as a small tv in the kitchen and figured this would be much better than my current cover that allows perfect viewing but does not help add any volume to my iPad if I move across the room. Unfortunately, this JBL loudspeaker does not help me with this wish but it does have other great uses. It looks great with its cool and compact design. It provides plenty of volume and fills even a large room but does not perform as well on heavy bass with its simple two speaker system. I thought the sound quality was very good. I was less pleased with the power button being located at the very back (inconvenient). On the back there is also the power plug (no option of batteries), usb port, audio in (for use with other mp3 players) and a video port. The remote control is slim and basic but provides all the controls needed. It works beautifully with our iPods and iPhones (arms for specific iDevice are included). It's less bulky then our more expensive iDevice sound systems and performs just as good if not better. It's when you try to use it with an iPad that it no longer shines. Note that the included arm is for the original iPad only with instructions to request one for the iPad 2. You will need it since the dimensions for the iPad and iPad 2 are different and affect the stability while being docked. This is not a big deal. Also, you'll have to remove any case or cover on the iPad before placing onto the docking station. This was minor for me since I use a slide and click cover. More importantly, the arm does not allow for the iPad to be rotated like other iDevices. I want to be able to place my iPad in the landscape position and watch tv or movies but it is not allowed. Help me out here JBL. If I could use the iPad on this JBL speaker docking system just like the iPod and iPhone, this system would be close to perfect (that darn power button). Even with this flaw for my personal use, I really like this system and will use it much more often than the three others we own since it's more compact (easier to move around) and provides great sound.

Awesome Little Sound Dock,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: JBL On Beat Loudspeaker Dock for iPad, iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
A lot of bang for the buck. I purchased the JBL OnStage IV portable sound dock for our RV and the JBL OnBeat for our master bedroom. Both of these docks put out incredible sound quality for their size and price point. I don't like booming or thumping music filled with a lot of bass so these docks are perfect for our needs. Both offer small footprints and are very attractive in appearance. If you're looking for a very nice sound dock without overpowering bass and a price that is in line with the product, you can't go wrong with either system.
*Note: Both sound docks work with the iPhone 4 which I have (in addition to older models) and the JBL On Beat also accommodates my iPad (original).

4.5 stars out of 5 stars (rounding up to 5) Recently I reviewed the JBL Roxy On-Ear Earphones and I was, to put mildly, not a very kind review. But I feel that they have redeemed themselves with this product. Pros: ~~~~~~ Easy access to the box. No jaws of life to get to the product. Costs $100, which is decent for a device like this Very small and easy to move around, especially for something with the ability to dock an iPad. Sound is very clear Charges while docking your devices Comes with a remote (also a negative, more on that later) It comes with holders that are gentle with your ixxxxx products. With the iPod/iPhone you can swivel the orientation between landscape and portrait and back. Comes in handy sometimes. Doesn't work with the iPad, but you probably don't want to as it would put a lot of stress on something this small. Cons: ~~~~~ Bass isn't the best. It is okay and matches what I would expect for $100, but you need to spend a lot more if you want unforgettable sound. The remote doesn't work well at angles. You have to point straight on to the device to get that to work. No physical buttons other than volume. I'd love some skip, pause, and play buttons. I cover all of this with more detail in the video. I hope it helps. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up in the comment section.
