I bought these to be the main channels on my 7.1 system. They sound really good by themselves, a clear crisp sound with adequate base and good midrange. Once I added the sub, center and the 4 tweeters, man what a great sound. Better sound than I had expected.

Got these on clearance from JBL. These ******* are HEAVY at 46lbs each. Use caution when moving them to position. Sound quality is excellent. It has a nice crisp, clear, projecting sound. Not as warm as other, older JBL'S, but very close. Bass is GOOD, but you must use a sub woofer to enhance the lower end. I sit 6ft away with the speakers toed in 45* from my sitting position. With this 2.1 set-up, it creates a strong phantom center where the sound, mainly vocals, sound like they're coming straight from the Tv. Music sounds EXPLOSIVE, many Cd's use different mastering techniques, so depending on the album, you will get the most, clear, loud sounding music you will hear at home. Cherry finish adds a bit of elegance compared to boring black. Stands can be removed and replaced with rubber ones. The louder you turn up the volume, the better these will sound. Made is China.
