LOUD and LOW!!,

When I bought this subwoofer I was skeptical of it's ability to produce very low frequencies. The data sheet on the JBL website looked good, especially for a speaker which is suited for such a small sealed enclosure. I made a box out of 3/4" MDF with an interior volume of about 0.3 cubic feet (appxox. 10" x 10" x 8 3/4" outside.) This little speaker makes some really low notes, and very loudly! This speaker is efficient- makes a lot of noise with a fairly small amount of power. I'm using an amp rated for 125 watts RMS (even though JBL claims it will handle 200 watts RMS) and I wouldn't want it any louder! After a few songs at max. volume my ears are ringing and I have a headache! It's as loud as a 10" bass tube I had in the 90's, and can be heard very loudly outside of the car.It really hits with the lowest kick drum thumps, and sounds great playing hip-hop and regae with low synthesized bass notes. If you're looking to compete, this sub isn't for you, but if you want some bump in the trunk that will annoy the neighbors if you forget to turn it down at night, this sub will deliver!

Reduced depth sub, compared to what? It's huge! No chance of fitting in the stock sub location in my Yukon XL, but fit beautifully in the qlogic .35cu/ft box under the dash. I'm feeding it from a 500w RMS Kenwood sub amp. Hits hard, goes deep. Has at least the 7/16" xmax specced. Hits much harder than the MTX DVC 8" that was in that box previously.

I put two of these in a Q logic box under the back seat of my 2002 Tundra access cab. Going from two Kicker C-12's in a 4 CUFT bandpass box I was not expecting a huge amount of bass.... boy was I wrong.. these little subs rock.
On a side note, I did rip the surround off the cone the other day.... glues it back with a flexible adhesive and the sub is still beating away! I am probably feeding them around 200 Watts RMS and they take it in stride.

I installed these in my 03 chevy silverado and they bang. For them being 8 inch subs you wouldnt think they would but i was wrong. There not loud enough to rock the car next to you which my truck has been installed with sound insullation so you cant really hear any thing outside of it.You get them cranked up enough and they'll rock you pretty good. So if your wanting a good quality sub loud enough to rock you and your friends, with the looks and performance of a high quality sub at a AWESOME price this is the sub for you.

I'm powering with a JVC KS-AX3002 Compact 2-Channel Power Amplifier with 370 Watts Max. Power Output (Black), which is 130w RMS in bridged mode, and I couldn't be happier. I installed it incorrectly in an enclosure that is nowhere near recommended and I still love the sound. I can't wait to build a .3 cubic ft sealed box and install it correctly. This sub won't blow out your windows, but it will still pound pretty hard. The excursion is excellent and just looks cool. I have this sub in a 2002 Ford Ranger Regular cab with a Clarion CZ100 In-Dash CD / MP3 / WMA / AAC Reciever head unit running Pioneer TS-A6872R 6-Inch X 8-Inch 3-Way 240-Watt Speakers (Pair) and love my system.
Edit: now powered by an Infinity Reference 1300a @ 200w rms @ 4 ohms in a custom built sealed box of ~ .31 cubic feet. Now this subwoofer really shines. its excursion is so much now that its kinda scary to watch. still no distortion of course

Gets the job done, with out rattling your car loose! I am not a professional sound guy. I installed a head unit, wires, amp and the sub. This is a pretty good woofer very much pleased with the sound and space it takes up. This speaker has a monster magnet...its far from low profile speaker! Its about 4 and 3/8 " deep.It will give you the bass you want to hear from it with it being heard of the car to loud. I am past the days of my car shaking to pieces because the amp and subs are so loud this is a good addition if don't want to go deaf or want your eyeballs to shake. If your looking for a clean sound system with good bass and that takes us little space with the right amp this is the speaker, you will want.

This sub is GREAT! I figured it would be since JBL has a good reputation, and the reviews here were great as well.
I put this sub under the middle of the front seat in my 2002 Dodge Ram quad cab. I have it powered by a Boston Acoustics GTA-400m. It sounds spectacular, it blew me away. Tight crisp bass when i dial that in, and the boomy chest thumping bass when I dialed that in. I highly recommend you find the remote control knob and hook it up too. It gets plenty loud for what I need it to do, but I won't win any SPL contests with this single sub. It does provide the perfect level of low end punch and boom I was looking for.

I bought this Sub to replace the sub in my 2001 yukon and it works great!! Their is a review that says it doesnt fit but im here to tell you it fits great. You have to drill new screw holes but thats it. It sounds pretty good just with the stock radio its not going to break any records with the stock amp running it, but you can tell a big diff. WELL WORTH THE MONEY AND TIME !!!!
