5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound, even better price.
JBL means quality sound, and that doesn't have to come at the price of expensive floor standing speakers. Being 16 and on a budget, finding good deals is a part of life. Whilst the N24II speakers are small, they sound much larger than they appear to be. With an amazingly flat frequency response, the N24II's produce sound well into the 70Hz range. I own a JBL PB12...

I own a JBL PB12 subwoofer, and they are a perfect match with the crossover set to around 80Hz. The cabinets are nearly a perfect crescent shape, which reduces standing wave buildup in the cabinet resulting in cleaner and tighter bass. I use these speakers in the surround channel aspect of movies and music, but I frequently find myself connecting them to the front speaker outputs of my Kenwood receiver and listening to music. When speakers sound that good, it really doesn't matter where in the room the sound is coming from; back or front. Acoustic music takes on a new meaning with amazingly accurate vocals, thrilling high-frequencies, and ample tight bass. These speakers sound good right out of the box, but sound even better after being properly broken in after 60 hours of use. At such a low price, and with amazing quality of workmanship and sound, go out and buy a few pairs for you and the neighborhood-these are not cheap plastic speakers. You can always achieve great sound with the proper setup.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best bang for the buck, March 12, 2003

I can't believe that someone reviewed these speakers so unfavorably. In our home theatre they sound absolutely amazing. I've read technical reviews of these units that extol their incredibly flat frequency response from 18,000 to 90 Hz, and to my ears they are indeed crisp and clear.. We have a high end SVS subwoofer we use with these, and for home theatre, the sound is wonderful. There have been times when we've turned off the subwoofer output of the amp for late viewing, and it still sounds fine. I've often forgotten to turn the sub back on and I'm still pleased with the sound.

We consider them the best bargain in home theatrer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Big sound, small speakers, good price..., June 22, 2003

Whoever said that couldn't achieve a good sound from little speakers, was wrong. Whoever said that you need a big set of 10 or 12 inch drivers in a floor speaker to sound good, was wrong.
So was I. I thought that good sound was only possible with floor speakers.
These set of little speakers handle music & movies without problems.
I bought this pair mainly to serve as my surround-back speakers for my set. Since I have mainly used them for surround-sound purposes, I had not really given these speakers a chance to show what they are.
Well, I had a party last night and I put them to the test. I connected these to my JBL subwoofer and hanged them on the wall with the brackets outside in the porch. For my surprise, these speakers handled everything I threw on the cd player. From techno to rap, to latin & rock, they did a really good job.
The highs were perfect, mids were there, and lows were as well. Even though the bass was mainly being from my jbl subwoofer, the speakers did handle it well when I tested them without the subwoofer. Come on, for a 4 inch driver, the bass is pretty good.
I was so pleased with the performance, that I'm even thinking about buying an extra pair to connect them in my porch.
I was getting complements from everyone on how good the sound was from such little speakers.
I said, well it's JBL.
And for the price you can't beat it.
Go and get yours and listen to your movies & music the way it's supposed to sound.

5.0 out of 5 stars teriffic sound, great price., September 30, 2002
This review is from: JBL N24 II 2-Way 4" Bookshelf Speakers (Electronics)
I bought these as the final component of my new system. They make great surround speakers. i havent tried them as fronts, as i ahve a set of Wharfedale Atlantic 400 towers up there. But i did turn them all the way up, and i heard n distortion at all, they put out decent bass, actually shaking a few things off the shelf i had them on. they even come with their own wall mounts, which is extremely helpful. all in all, they put out some great sound, and at a great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Movie, music, gaming, you name it, January 18, 2005
This review is from: JBL N24 II 2-Way 4" Bookshelf Speakers (Electronics)
My home theater system takes a beating. Everything from movie night amongst my friends and I, Need for Speed Underground 2 Night, and everyday music use in my home theater it sounds incredible. The Dolby Digital, ProLogic, and DTS playback all sounds great thanks in part to these N24's. I had tried other speaker models and brands in vain and I just ended up taking them all back. The JBL's caught my eye because they are actually what the restaurant I work for use as background music all day, and employee abuse during closings.

So naturally I tried these on for size in my home. They come with wall mounts unlike so many other speaker models I dealt with so that was a definate plus. The small size and light weight would allow for the option of speaker stands if you wanted to go for that look.

As far as weaknesses goes, I can't seem to think of any. I could not imagine using these as front speakers because they are only two way, but I am just used to being spoiled with my floorstanding speakers. It would actually be an excellent little setup to have four N24's setup with a good center channel (EC35) and subwoofer (E250P).

5.0 out of 5 stars BIg Sound on a budget, December 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: JBL N24 II 2-Way 4" Bookshelf Speakers (Electronics)
JBL makes some fantastic speakers. I hooked these up to my TV through a Peavey PMA-70 and they sound clear at any volume. The treble and bass response is much improved over the TV's internal speakers. If you want a nice stereo sound set up, get these speakers. If you want a 5.1 surround sound setup to compete with the Jones', you'll want to get these some friends because 2 speakers can't sound like 5 and a subwoofer.

I then hooked them up as surrounds for my primary stereo and once again they were terrible. They sounded so bad I took them back to Best Buy for a second pair just be sure that the first pair weren't blown. Well, they weren't blown: they were simply pathetic. The bass was virtually non-existent and both the mid and high ranges sounded muddy. Maybe other JBL products are of higher quality than these, but certainly don't buy these. They are quite simply the worst speakers I've ever owned (fortunatly, only temporarily).
