The JBL Northridge N38 three-way, 8-inch floor-standing loudspeaker is designed and manufactured to reproduce sound with high clarity and power. Technical features include 175-watt power handling, 8-ohm impedance, 90 dB sensitivity, and 45 to 20,000 Hz frequency response.

Speaker drivers include a 0.75-inch titanium laminate dome tweeter, a 4-inch PolyPlas (polymer-coated cellulose fiber) midrange driver, and an 8-inch PolyPlas cone woofer. The woofer features traditional JBL engineering, the same technologies used in JBL's professional equipment that can be found in stadiums, music halls, and movie theaters around the world.

Shielded components allow distortion-free placement near video monitors. A high-temperature oversized Kapton voice coil and HeatScape motor structure allow this speaker to effortlessly play all types of movies and music. A low-diffraction IsoPower baffle directs the sound power into the room, reducing distortion caused by cabinet vibration. The computer-designed enclosure requires no bracing. The FreeFlow flared port increases bass response without adding unwanted port noise. This model comes with a two-year parts and labor warranty on the speaker enclosure and a five-year parts and labor warranty on the speaker driver and internal components.

These speakers have awesome sound for the price. The bass is fabulous. If you want good to great sound these speakers are your choice, if you want great-CRAZY sound, then the Studio Series by JBL is your choice. Be warned, the Studio Series is almost twice as much. . .

I had been using a pair of Acoustic Research 2-Way Towers for my Front speakers and then I found a pair of used N-38's and I moved my AR's to Rear Surrounds and replaced them with the JBL's. I am sure GLAD that I made this move - these Speakers are what I had wanted and expected - QUALITY Sound, the Sound Spectrum, you hear it ALL, highs, mids, and lows [helps to have powered sub too]. WALA - my Home Theater just stepped UP a notch or two!

I was looking at the price of floor standing speakers, the JBL Northridge N38s in particular and I noticed that you claim to sell for $199.99 as opposed to a list price of $230+ . I checked out Bestbuy and Ciruit city web sites and they sell for the exact same price at both these locations. So who's list price are you underselling? Also, if I was to buy from you, I'd pay the same cost, a hefty shipping fee and have to wait 4-10 days for delivery. If I buy from the others, I get instant delivery and zero shipping costs. So what is the advantage of buying from Amazon? Just curious.
