The flagship of the Northridge E Series, the JBL E100 dual 10-inch floorstanding loudspeaker delivers superb audio whether used in conjunction with a second stereo speaker or as one of two front speakers in a comprehensive surround system. Movies and music sound great thanks to its 0.75-inch titanium-laminate dome tweeter, which reproduces high notes and dialogue at the peak of clarity. Meanwhile, its 4-inch PolyPlas midrange driver and dual 10-inch PolyPlas woofers combine to deliver full and rich mid and low tones, ensuring that everything from complex classical recordings to bass-heavy hip-hop CDs translate beautifully from the amp to your ears. Each JBL Northridge speaker also features a FreeFlow flared port, which minimizes distortion and boominess; an Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide tweeter enhancement that improves the high-frequency audio response for music and dialogue; and a Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover network, which divides the audio signal with minimal processing for a better overall sound.

Audiophiles will appreciate the dual sets of sturdy, gold-plated, five-way binding posts, which enable both bi-amping and bi-wiring. The alternate cabling methods can offer either subtle (in the case of bi-wiring) or significant (bi-amping) improvements in audio imaging and detail. With the low, mid, and high frequencies isolated, the speakers' quartet of transducers can reproduce their frequency ranges even more efficiently and with greater accuracy. In addition, the speaker's computer-designed, lock-mitered cabinet virtually eliminates distortion, and its slim European profile--which measures 12.25 by 42 by 14.5 inches (W x H x D)--looks great in almost any room.

The E100's technical specifications include a robust 250 watts of maximum recommended power, 125 watts of continuous power, and a frequency response of 33 Hz to 20 kHz. JBL's Northridge E Series comprises not only floorstanding and bookshelf speakers, but also center channel speakers, subwoofers, and anything else you need to create a superior surround system. All Northridge speakers are magnetically shielded to protect against video interference and are covered by a five-year warranty on parts and labor.

I see reviews for these speaker everywhere, Ususally from Excellent to just Good. BUT, You really have to have a Quality amplifier to get the most from these speakers. I use them in my family room with a 7.1ch Home theatre system and love them. !!

I have had B&O, JBL, Technics, Kenwood etc, and these are by far the best sounding front speakers I have had. Again, you cannot truly rate any speaker without knowing what your system is capable of. A speaker is only as good as what drives it. It is a direct representation of the overall system.

With that said 5 stars is easily obtained by these clear responsive Northridge E100 speakers. Superb bass handling, to the point that the Sub becomes redundant below 60hz, the speakers handle everything I have thrown at them with ease. JBL have yet another winner here in my books.

THIS SPEAKER SYSTEM SOUNDS QUITE GOOD WHEN PAIRED WITH A GOOD SUB.HOWEVER,THERE ARE MANY BETTER SPEAKER SYSTEMS OUT THERE...THESE SPEAKERS WILL APPEAL PRIMARLY TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE THAT BIGGER,..HAS TO BE BETTER....THE SPEAKERS PRESENT AN EXCELLENT SOUND STAGE. THEY ARE A LITTLE BRIGHT.THE SPEAKERS DEMAND A LOT OF POWER,AND HIGH CURRENT TO SOUND AT THEIR BEST. ENOUGH,.THEY DO PRESENT QUITE A !!!WOW !!!FACTOR...PLEASE AUDITION THESE BEFORE BUYING...ON 11/11/05....AMAZON WAS OFFERING FREE SHIPPING.!!!
