For more than 60 years, JBL has been delivering world-class listening experiences where ever great sound matters

What's in a name?

Even if you've never owned a JBL® product, you've almost certainly heard the JBL sound. It rings out loud and clear from the massive JBL loudspeaker arrays that hang in stadiums, sports arenas and outdoor concert venues everywhere. It literally surrounds you in more than 50 percent of all movie theaters worldwide, including many THX-certified installations (a standard of realism that JBL engineers helped pioneer in 1983). Chances are, many of your favorite songs and movie soundtracks were mixed and mastered on JBL studio monitors - they've been the choice of audio professionals for more than 60 years. But you don't have to venture far from home to experience the legendary power, clarity and technical accuracy of the JBL sound. It's available in exceptional home entertainment systems that incorporate many of the same advanced technologies, materials and manufacturing techniques originally developed for professional systems. It's even available in lightweight, portable packages that you and your friends can enjoy anywhere.

Customer Reviews

Small package puts out big sound, it looks great, it's portable and the quality is on point.

Would highly recommend JBL on tour if you are looking for great sound, but note that the sound will not be as loud as the Logitech Z305 or Edifier MP 250.

Nice little storage/carrying pouch was a plus as it makes it easy to throw in my purse or suitcase.

This speaker delivers great sound for its size. Here are the pros and cons

Pros
1. Simply great sound. I am used to Bose AE2 and QC15 and this little device matches up to it.
2. Its lightweight and easy to carry.
3. Rechargeable battery with an on-off button. Battery can be charged via USB.
4. The speaker is very stylish.
5. I have a Dell E6420, this speaker increases the sound in the range of 1.5~2 times. So its not that bad, depending on the quality of the original sound.

Cons
1. Wish it had a stand at the back. Right now a portion of the wire comes in between while using the wire that is permanently attached to the speaker. However, since the speaker is so light weight there is almost no chance that the wire would get destroyed.

Would highly recommend JBL on tour if you are looking for great sound, but note that the sound will not be as loud as the Logitech Z305 or Edifier MP 250.

The OTM (OnTour Micro) makes no sense. JBL already makes the JBL Micro Wireless Bluetooth Speaker (MWII) and JBL Micro II Ultra-Portable Multimedia Speaker (Black) (MII) , for prices which vary but are often the same as the OTM. The MWII has 3.0W of power; the MII has 2.7W; the OTM has just 2.2W, all as claimed by JBL so should be comparable. The MWII has Bluetooth which is very handy and prevents damaging the delicate cord. And crucially the MII and MWII have a tough metal grille protecting the speaker cone where the OTM leaves it unprotected.

Still sounds great and has a lovely and functional design, but buy either of the louder, more durable JBL Micro speakers unless the looks are your top priority.

I travel a lot so was looking for a light compact speaker to pop into my purse and this little speaker fits the bill nicely. Also battery-powered to take with you if there is no AC power source. For a really good review go to "Gadgetmac", the best one I could find.
Pros:
1. Compact and flat, fits in your pocket.
2. Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery (>6hrs playback). Internal rechargeable battery better than having AAA batteries - you don't have to go out and buy them if your unit goes flat at an inconvenient hour or place and AAA batteries are hard to find in some countries. You can recharge and play music at the same time. Also, for us "greenies", an internal re-chargeable is far more environmentally friendly.
3. Has both USB and jack - so can charge battery whilst plugged in and playing iPhone or computer.
4. AC input on side - can buy 2 speakers and piggy-back for stereo, or use head-phones (you can use the speaker between your iPhone/computer and headphone for better sound, especially on 32-bit), and also to plug in a longer cord to your iPhone.
5. Light (red>blue) - to indicate battery charge. Remember to fully charge the battery before using unit.
6. On/off switch - rather than a push-button which is easy to accidentally turn on in the soft case supplied and leave on unsuspectingly, draining the unit.
7. Volume control - when I've got my iPhone mini-docked I lose the volume control function on the iPhone so having a volume control on the speaker is absolutely necessary. The volume output was surprising loud for such a small unit, especially when in quiet surrounds.
8. Mini-USB cable - lets you recharge from any laptop or USB port.

Cons:
1.

Pros: The sound quality and volume are quite good as long as you have reasonable expectations considering the size and price. It is loud enough to listen to podcasts in the same room with minor background noise (e.g. in the kitchen with running water) or to have it in an adjacent room with no background noise. Don't expect big bass, but the overall sound quality is surprisingly good for such a small device.

Cons: The built in input cord is a little too short; another couple inches would have been very helpful. The indicator light on the bottom is a clever idea, but is too dim to be seen in most environments. But my biggest complaint by far is the power supply. One of the most obvious uses of this device is to attach it to a non-Apple phone or tablet -- the vast majority of which use *micro* USB. So why on earth did they put a *mini* USB plug on this thing? It would be far more convenient if it were simply interchangeable with all of my other chargers/cables. And to make matters worse, the included charging cable is WAY too short. (And while I can understand why they felt the need to provide a slightly longer audio input cord, having it dangling off the much shorter USB cord is annoying -- just give me an audio-in jack and I'd be much happier.)

I am a big fan of this speaker. Loud enough to entertain, good sound, and its portable so when I have friends over, I can move it around, bring it outside, or to whatever room in my house I'm in. It's also battery operated, so I don't have to worry about dealing with a power cord, and I can just charge the speaker at night whenever I am not using it. Very happy with this purchase.
