The On Stage Micro incorporates Apple's universal iPod dock adapter, which is compatible with most docking versions of the iPod, including the iPod video 5G and 5.5G and the iPod nano 1G and 2G (it offers limited functionality with iPod 3G models, however). Simply slide your iPod into the dock and you're set--no additional cords to connect or adapters to fuss with. As an added convenience, the On Stage Micro also offers an auxiliary input for connecting a variety of other portable audio devices, including the iPod shuffle, personal MP3 and CD players, desktop and laptop computers (all platforms), and satellite radio receivers. As long as your portable audio device has a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack connection, you can play the audio through your On Stage Micro speaker.
As a bonus, the system comes with a full-navigation IR remote control, which delivers full access to your iPod so you can easily change tracks, browse libraries, adjust settings, and scroll through extras from across the room. Additional details include a OnePoint design that syncs and charges your iPod (requires mini USB cable); one-touch volume and mute controls; a memory function that remembers your last volume setting after the system shuts down; computer-optimized equalization to provide a rich, complete sound stage; and an automatic shutoff function that saves battery life when there's no audio input. The On Stage Micro, which offers more than 24 hours of continuous play with a single set of batteries, measures 2.88 by 0.62 by 2.25 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 1 pound. It's also backed by a one-year warranty.

Excellent dock for your iPod,
By NineToez (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: JBL - On Stage Micro - Portable Speaker and Docking Station for iPod (White) (Electronics)
I have the On Stage II for my office and my girl wanted one for hers so I got her this one (On Stage Micro) thinking that the only real difference was the size; I was wrong! In my opinion, the On Stage Micro is superior to my On Stage II solely because of the full navigation remote. While my On Stage II can reproduce sound at a louder volume and has two more speakers for fuller, richer sound, I actually rarely find myself turning it up to take advantage of its supposed superior sound. Don't get me wrong, the Micro still has awesome, clear sound and is the perfect size however the real winner is the remote control. It appears that if your intention is to sync it with your PC + iTunes, you might need a mini-USB adaptor in order to connect it but since this one is solely for playback, I'm not concerned with that. Comes with a neat little carry pouch for portability and everything you need right out of the package for entertainment at home, office, hotel, etc. except for the iPod and music or movies!

Decent sound quality, USB connection woes,
By Martijn (The Netherlands) - See all my reviews
This review is from: JBL - On Stage Micro - Portable Speaker and Docking Station for iPod (White) (Electronics)
I bought this item because it serves three purposes:
- docking my iPod and syncing with iTunes - charging the iPod - speakers on the go The latter two functions work fine. The sound quality is decent for the size of speaker that is in the casing and for general outdoors use it works fine. The remote is a nice feature for controlling the volume mostly. The problem is with the USB connection. All the connectors (Audio in/out, power and USB) sit in rounded holes in the base of the unit and while the power and audio cables are provided with the unit, the USB mini cable for connecting it to your PC is not and it is extremely difficult to find a cable that fits into the base. That's because almost all USB mini cables default to a square rubber housing for the USB plug that doesn't fit into the round hole in the base of the unit. I'm still looking for the right cable or eventually will have to take a Stanley knife to one of my existing cables to make it fit.

I PURCHASED THIS ITEM SOLEY FOR THE PURPOSE TO HAVE SOME BACK ROUND MUSIC FOR MY IPOD WHILE I'M AT WORK. I NEEDED SOMETHING SMALL AND WASN'T CONCERNED WITH HOW GREAT THE SOUND WAS. WHEN I TRIED IT OUT AT HOME I WAS AMAZED OF THE QUALITY SOUND THIS LITTLE SPEAKER HAD. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST PRODUCTS I EVER BOUGHT. YOU WILL LOVE IT.
