Excellent dock for your iPod,

This review is from: JBL - On Stage Micro - Portable Speaker and Docking Station for iPod (White) (Electronics)
I have the On Stage II for my office and my girl wanted one for hers so I got her this one (On Stage Micro) thinking that the only real difference was the size; I was wrong! In my opinion, the On Stage Micro is superior to my On Stage II solely because of the full navigation remote. While my On Stage II can reproduce sound at a louder volume and has two more speakers for fuller, richer sound, I actually rarely find myself turning it up to take advantage of its supposed superior sound. Don't get me wrong, the Micro still has awesome, clear sound and is the perfect size however the real winner is the remote control. It appears that if your intention is to sync it with your PC + iTunes, you might need a mini-USB adaptor in order to connect it but since this one is solely for playback, I'm not concerned with that. Comes with a neat little carry pouch for portability and everything you need right out of the package for entertainment at home, office, hotel, etc. except for the iPod and music or movies!

Decent sound quality, USB connection woes,

I bought this item because it serves three purposes:
- docking my iPod and syncing with iTunes - charging the iPod - speakers on the go The latter two functions work fine. The sound quality is decent for the size of speaker that is in the casing and for general outdoors use it works fine. The remote is a nice feature for controlling the volume mostly. The problem is with the USB connection. All the connectors (Audio in/out, power and USB) sit in rounded holes in the base of the unit and while the power and audio cables are provided with the unit, the USB mini cable for connecting it to your PC is not and it is extremely difficult to find a cable that fits into the base. That's because almost all USB mini cables default to a square rubber housing for the USB plug that doesn't fit into the round hole in the base of the unit. I'm still looking for the right cable or eventually will have to take a Stanley knife to one of my existing cables to make it fit.

I PURCHASED THIS ITEM SOLEY FOR THE PURPOSE TO HAVE SOME BACK ROUND MUSIC FOR MY IPOD WHILE I'M AT WORK. I NEEDED SOMETHING SMALL AND WASN'T CONCERNED WITH HOW GREAT THE SOUND WAS. WHEN I TRIED IT OUT AT HOME I WAS AMAZED OF THE QUALITY SOUND THIS LITTLE SPEAKER HAD. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST PRODUCTS I EVER BOUGHT. YOU WILL LOVE IT.

I had a chance to try other docking stations, this is the one for me. Besides good quality sound, I like it's size. It's worth the money. I tryed the Bose, but found it too big. My JBL On Stage Micro is perfect for traveling.

I gave this to my mom for X-mas. She absolutely loves it! When she showed me how it works, and let me listen to it I was blown away by the sound it pushes out. I have heard other iPod speakers sound muffled and scratchy- but these sounded so clear and perfect. Great buy!

I have the Bose speakers for my ipod which is big and bulky. I use the bose by the pool and it ROCKS with quality bass sound and volume. I wanted something smaller to travel with so I got this. I was expecting the sound to be as good as the Bose. My expectations were to high but I still like it. It does sound pretty good for the size that it is. It's very small and you can travel with it. I think the price could be better for what it is.

I bought the On Stage Micro after the crappy ipod alarm clock I won in a drawing at my office's cafeteria died. that unit was only a couple of months old. Think it was called an iHome or iMole or some similarly named brand and, when played, sounded compressed, flat, and as though it was playing at the bottom of a well. but, hey...it was free.
This little unit is by far the most impressive of it's kind (at least of the 3 or 4 different brands/models i've heard). The sound is crisp and warm. Within hours of its arrival, I listened to everything from Sly and the Family Stone and Parliament/Funkadelic to Metallica, Miles Davis, The Flaming Lips, the Roots, Kool Keith, Buena Vista Social Club, Talking Heads, Hendrix, the Beach Boys and Daft Punk (and more) trying to find some kind of sonic limitation to it. I couldn't. The On Stage Micro truly lives up to its name. For the price, I don't think you'll find another unit that can match it.

Great portability and the sound quality is very good for the size. So far would recommend this product for travel and situations where electricity is not readily available. Like the feature controlling the iPod using only the remote.
