Easy install, and they look great..

Very clean, bright highs, clear mids with nice tone, but if you want strong bass you will need a subwoofer.

After reading the reviews of these speakers from different websites, I decided to purchase a pair for myself. I am using them for ambient sound in a whole house audio set up. The installation is pretty straight forward. However, as one reviewer wrote, you may have to cut the hole slightly larger than the hole size using the given template. Removing the grill from the speaker was a small challenge. JBL includes a small paper tab tucked under the speaker grill. This is supposed to make removing the grill easy. With each pair of my speakers (installed 4 pairs) the tab would just tear off when you pulled on it to remove it. So, I ended up using a very small jeweler's Phillips point screwdriver to pry the grills off. No big deal.

Overall I am very pleased with the sound of the speakers. They produce very clean sound. Using the speakers with a second zone amplifier with no equalization capabilities means you hear the music as recorded and the JBL's reproduce the sound faithfully. Shop around for the best price. The price of these speakers fluctuate from week to week. I always wait until they hit my price point (less than $130.00/pair) before purchasing.

I'd recommend them to anyone needing some decent speakers for a whole house audio set-up. If using them for a 5.1 or 7.1 theater set up (ceiling only) you'll need to pair them with a decent subwoofer to get the bass response you're looking for.

Some will probably suggest that it's not appropriate to use ceiling speakers for a 5.1 or 7.1 system, but, if that's the only area you have to install your speakers, then you have to use what you've got.

these came suggested to me by a friend who installs them in many new construction condos that have inwall audio. They have excellent sound for the money, and were very easy to install. would recommend for the budget minded audiophile looking for a good ceiling speaker. I had originally purchased the Bose in wall speakers, and returned them for these, and am happy that i did. They produce some pretty deep base for the size of speaker, turning the ceiling into a bass chamber. most importantly though, the highs are crisp. these work well simply as surround speakers, or as a second main channel (channel B), as they enrichen and help fill the room with ambient sound. I mated them with Klipsch towers and a denon receiver.

These are excellent speakers. I had never installed ceiling speakers before but once I had the speaker wire run it was a simple, straight forward process. These speakers are in my kitchen/family room, a room of about 800-900 square feet. I bought these to replace a set of very good Bose 201's that were sitting on my floor. We got tired of looking at them and tired of the kids standing on them. These JBL's are connected to a relatively new Harman Kardon 3490 (120 watts X2) receiver with an Audiovox EQ hooked up to it. Usually I just stream Pandora or play MP3's thru my iPad. I have to tell you that they sound superb and look great. I really could not be happier. They fill the room with no problem at all. Highs are very crisp, bass is certainly accurate and adequate but I'm sure some of you will add a sub woofer, which probably will make the lows better, but honestly they sound great right out of the box. Please note I am only playing music thru these speakers, they are not set up in a surround sound / TV /Movies arrangement. If you are on the fence I'm confident if you purchased these you would be really pleased. Amazon Prime too!

I bought these two ceiling speakers for my kitchen along with two 8" ceiling speakers (different brand) for my dining room. Both sets of speakers I bought based on customer reviews without actually hearing the speakers in person. I am more impressed with these 6.5" speakers than with the 8" speakers I purchased for my dining room. These speakers have excellent sound! I think they have very crisp and full sound that is quite impressive for such relatively small speakers. Installation was easy, the directions were good and I had no problems. They look great and match my white ceiling nicely. The sound quality to price is high value with these speakers.

I had bought some SP6C speakers directly from JBL 6 years ago and have been happy with them, so when I wanted to expand my whole house audio, I looked for the same speakers. The SP6CII speakers have the added feature of swivel tweeter, but otherwise are the same easy to install, solid feeling speakers. They have as good a sound as you could expect from 6 inch speakers, and are efficient enough that I was able to install two sets in parallel to my 20 Watt output whole house system and still go as loud as I could want with no distortion.

The hardest thing about installing these was measuring where to punch the hole. These are extremely easy to install. Cut the hole put your speaker wires into the provided place, push them up into the ceiling, tighten the screws and sit back and listen to your AV receiver. These have good solid sound quality. I have a subwoofer with mine because I enjoy that deep bass sound. They look great in the ceiling. I would suggest these to anyone thinking of ceiling speakers.
