Okay, I don't know why some people are complaining about the touch volume keys. At first when I got this product, I FREAKED out because I couldn't make the volume lower or higher- what I realized was that you can't just touch it with the tip of your finger. You need to like press it with your thumb lightly and with your index finger grab the other side. This can be done lightly- do it as if your trying to touch the tips of your fingers together with the volume key in between them.

I have no complaints EXCEPT that the bass button is on the subwoofer is a little hard to access. My subwoofer is on the floor so in order to increase the bass, I need to basically get on my hands and knees and turn the button that is next to all the other output wires. It's a bit hard to turn since the other wires are kind of blocking it. This is the ONLY negative thing.
These speakers are little and produce the craziest amount of sound. If you're considering getting cute speakers that are girly and that are really strong and play REALLY good base- GET THEM! (By the way, they don't have wires coming from the speakers, they look like jumping rope which is easier to manage and so frikin cute).

I'm a 23 year old med school student and I LOVE THESE!!! :)

I bought these speakers because they looked so cool. Very innovative design. The sound is pretty good, but not great -- decent highs, but the bass from the subwoofer isn't as strong as I would like. Based purely on the design and sound, I would recommend these speakers to others.

But I cannot recommend these speakers since they have a "fatal flaw". JBL really messed up when they made the volume buttons touch sensitive. Interesting concept, except that they don't work AT ALL. I can't raise or lower the volume, or mute the speakers. I'm stuck listening to everything at the default volume level. In reading some blogs, it turns out that others are experiencing the same problem that I am. Sounds like a fundamental design flaw in the product.

I applaud JBL's effort to bring some style to the PC speaker market, but they went too far with the volume keys, putting form ahead of function.

When I bought these JBL I expected really good quality, but I got something even better, the sound is very crisp, the bass is perfect, the sound is just great to fill not just the room, even the garden next to the computer room is full of music. Great product, completely satisfied.

I paid a special onsale price of $80 and that's why I made the purchase, and this review is based on this price.

Pro: great design, nice to look at, decent sound quality and volume based on its size.

Cons: Subwoofer not enough for really heavy bass but that's expected, tremble and mid range a bit lacking as well but again it's pretty normal for the size, the two flower paddle speakers can be knocked over pretty easily, you need to keep holding on to the touch sensitive volume control areas for a half second or so for it to react properly and continue to go up or down in volume, the audio in cable tip will produce noise if touched when it is inserted into the subwoofer so better insert it first before turning on the subwoofer.

Overall, it's really not that bad for the price I paid. I immediately liked it right after it came out but I was not willing to pay for the higher retail price. Don't buy it if you are expecting really strong bass out of a subwoofer this small and don't use the full subwoofer volume if you buy one, as the bass can be a bit hollow when cranked to the full volume. I get better sound when connected to a PC than a iPod, and I tried setting the EQ on iPod but no matter what the setting the sound effect came out a bit un-natural, so I set it back to EQ Off. However, I believe I am a bit more picky and discerning to sound quality than some out there, and I am very into audio systems and all that, so this unit didn't blow me away when I first tried it, but I am getting used to its sound now. If you use it with a MP3, the bit rate of the songs also plays a pretty significant factor, as I can tell the difference between a 128kbps and a 320kbps very easily, the 320kbps song gives a louder and fuller sound for sure and it can match the output of my old CD player on bedside, so that's worth the $80 I spent but I am not sure paying over $100 for it.

I had a pair of JBL Creatures II (gray) which I just loved. Amazing volume. But when I saw these orange flowers (white subwoofer), I just had to have them... Daisies is on my license plate!

Well, I read all the troubling reviews about the sound, but knew from my CII's that the little plus & minus signs produced an incredible volume and were easy to work. Just lightly touch the silver sign...

Well, these are a little tricker, and I WAS sweating it for awhile. I used my thumb and forefinger, pressing hard, really hard (shouldn't have to be that hard) as someone else had suggested. I didn't have much luck, either. But while I was messing around and pressing on the minus sound, all my sound -- what little I had! -- disappeared. So, I knew I had to figure these things out.

Everybody is right. The sound is tremendous. It's just a trick learning how to use the buttons. These buttons do NOT work like the CIIs, where it's very specific about where to touch (the silver area). For these I had to use thumb & forefinger, but NOT pressing the plus or minus icon, but the area just under it: More like where the speaker area is. Works like a charm.

Don't send them back! Keep them. Just like the CIIs, these are WONDERFUL... (I wondered, as the cables weren't color-coded, nor as substantial as on the CII. But not to worry. Everything is fine.) I have the subwoofer on my desk, behind my Apple Display, and the sound just resonates off my wooden desk. No need to put it on the floor. And the white dome takes up a whole lot less space than the CIIs did.

Enjoy!

Linda

PS I wasn't up on these when they first came out. Just happen to stumble on them. I paid $200, and consider it WELL worth it. Very happy to have found them. Now I have a fabulous pair of grey Creature IIs to sell...
