Book Description

October 31, 2003

JBoss 3.2 Deployment and Administration is a guide to the variety of configurative, administrative, and deployment tasks that associated with setting up and running J2EE components on the JBoss application server.

Deploying J2EE applications and configuring the application server is one of the most tricky and non-standard elements of J2EE development. Each server interprets and implements the specifications differently, adding its own proprietary features and functionality.

JBoss is the leading open source J2EE application server. It was the JavaWorld 2002 Editor's choice for Best Application Server. Its downloads are an order of magnitude greater than any other server (> 200,000). TogetherSoft poll places JBoss as the leading choice for development (43%). The basic runtime and source is free, however you can pay for documentation and support services.

1.0 out of 5 stars Review Of JBOSS 3.2, November 25, 2003

This review is from: JBoss 3.2 Deployment and Administration (Paperback)
I recently bought this book. This is one of the worst technical books that I have read. Its not properly edited and the writer it seems has picked up bits and pieces from "JBoss Administration andDevelopment Third Edition (3.2.x Series)". He starts writing on a topic and then leaves it in middle without explaining fully.

Poorly edited, seems to have been largely copied pieces of the JBoss documentation. Save your money and get the JBoss documentation subscription or the stuff from http://www.coredevelopers.net/

This review is from: JBoss 3.2 Deployment and Administration (Paperback)
I find the other comments a bit harsh. The text does share much similarity to the docs, but I have found it useful on several occassion to quickly lookup config parameters... I have the jboss admin doc, and although well written and full of information, it is 600+ pages and not alwayse the quickest way to find information.

I have found the text to provide adequate information for the topics listed on the cover. Possibly, the other reviewers expected something different.
