What every woodworker looks for is a jig that can be easily set and not checked. For the money spent on the Accu-Miter, I have been a bit disappointed in what the product has delivered. During assembly (some required) a screw that secures the mitre angle with the shot pin mechanism was stripped on delivery. I had to contact the manufacturer for a new part which delayed the use by a few weeks. The bar that slides in my table saw, router table and shaper is not a good fit. Since there is no way to adjust for bar width, there is play in the miter. This makes getting a perfect square cut a bit dicey. Every so often I have to check all the screws on the unit to make sure they have not come loose. In addition, when cutting longer stock, the miter unit/bar feels like it is flexing a bit. Overall, with careful attention and use, the tool does deliver pretty good results. However, getting good results takes a bit more work than one would expect from a unit of this price.

... JDS has redesigned the bar so that it now has three adjustments along its length. If there is any slop in the slot, just turn the screw and it tightens right up. My Accu-Miter is rock solid in the slot.

The unit comes disassembled but the assembly process is actually fun. Each of the pieces is made to such a high quality and the instructions are so clear, you'll feel disappointed that there isn't more to do. The hold down is a little finiky, but maybe I'm not used to it enough.

I have been using two different cross cut sleds but this is the most accurate I've seen.

I've had one for a few months now and I just love it. this is one of the better purchase decisions I have made. Easy to set up, easy to use and I love the fact that cuts are repeatable with ease. Accuracy is great. I am a hobbyist and don't have a lot of time to devote to my hobby. This miter sure does make the time spend pleasurable.

This is a rock-solid mitre gage. Easy to set up and use. There are two stops on the gage and both are easy to use and produce extremely repeatable cuts. Customer service at JDS is efficient and nice. (I accidently knocked the gage off of the workbench and one of the stops broke. JDS quickly shipped a replacement for a nominal fee, $4). It's an expensive gage. But, I do so much cross cutting that the cost is justified.

Also, I really, really like the stop. It is easy to adjust very precisely because it has a screw mechanism that allows the user to sneak up on the perfect length. It is a really nice feature.

I received this item today, and quickly assembled it and put it on my Delta contractor's saw. The only criticism I have is the screws for adjusting the bar to the slot. The screws on mine were already tightened down as far as they could go, it appeared, so I was not able to remove all play, there's a tiny bit left but it probably is not enough to worry about. I had a complaint about the optional manual clamp, but I'll put that on the page for that item. Haven't had a chance to use this much yet, but it seems to be a well made product.

I have been looking for a miter guage for my Sears Contractor Table saw for years. I have always been concerned about the flex in the bar when extended. No flex here. This baby is rock solid. It has good weight to it, so it sits tight in the miter slot. It can be adjusted in case you have a little wider slot than most saws. Mine fit right in the first time. There was a problem with one of the screws. The thread was machined wrong,so when I received the Miter guage, the screw was already stripped. Called JDS and they sent a replacement in two days. Seems they could put an extra screw in the bag. Most companies do. Set up can be a little tricky if you are not an experienced woodworker. Instructions are a little vague. It took me about an hour to assemble it and square it to the saw blade. It probably would have taken less time if I had not messed around trying to fix the thread on the screw. If you are looking for a replacement guage, you won't be disappointed with the Accu-Miter

The JDS 18-34 Accu-Miter Gauge does everything it claims it can do.It was simple to assemble and adjust it.Adjustments have held true so far.I've used it alot in the short time I've had it. Comparing it to 3 other miter gauges I have its by far the best, but I feel it should be. I paid the price for a quality tool and got one.

The Biesemeyer fence and this miter gage are the best accessories that can be bought for a saw. The miter gage is a little heavy, and when large stock is to be cut and the gage is off the table you have to be carful to keep the unit level with the table, once you do it the first time its easy thereafter, great unit, I waited too long to buy this product.

Because the screw issue has not been resolved (see other reviews), assembly can be maddening. It is too heavy: sturdy is good, but this gauge is awkwardly heavy. Without a T-slot (and maybe even a lateral table extension), anything but narrow stock will have this gauge falling off the table.

Reviews here imply this is a "must have" for precision work. Fastening a milled board to a conventional gauge (preferably with an adjustable rod, to eliminate lateral play) and clamping on a stop on occasion has a lot going for it.

I've used my Accumiter guage for almost 5 years. Although the hold-down is a little cumbersome to use, it makes me feel much safer using my 5Hp Unisaw. After using an Accumiter, its hard to use a saw with just the standard bevel guage. My Delta supplied guage is permenantly attached to a jig...
